The next version (v3.23.9) will have an improved location filter.

Until now, the location filter worked only with physical medias. It now also works with file locations.

Please test that feature by replacing your current Coollector.exe with the one inside this zip:

http://www.coollector.com/Coollector.zip

As you'll see, I tried to make the feature clever, by displaying a minimum number of meaningful folders.

To be listed, a folder must:
contain files from at least 2 different movies,
OR be the only folder to contain files from 1 movie,
OR contain at least 2 folders containing different movies.

Thank you very much for reporting if it works fine with your files !

I like this new feature and it works great except for the single bug I saw :D .

My Comments:

- It's kinda weird to see a directory with the drive location in common letters.

- After scanning E:\Movies\Action the next time I'm about to scan a folder coollector will open E:\Movies\Action. I think it would be more convenient if it opened E:\Movies\ so that i can easily select and scan E:\Movies\Adventure etc...

- It would seem that after clicking the location filter the program will crash if one clicks something else before Coollector gets time to populate the list. What i did exactly was scan a folder, add the files then click the location filter, then the movie-panel immediately after. I hope my guess is close enoght to the actual problem that it helps.

I don't understand. It's always been like that, and I don't know how else it should be.

I disagree. Most users have only one movie folder, which they scan again when they've added new movies. In your case, that folder seems to be "E:\Movies\". You just have to scan "E:\Movies\" each time.

Thank you very much, I've been able to reproduce the crash !

Oh, you probably mean to display the drive name instead of the drive letter. But with Windows, a valid file location uses the drive letter, not the drive name. I'm used to see locations like that. I've never seen locations with the drive name. And when you'll want to play a video file, I need to have a valid location to pass to your default movie player.

Or maybe you mean the contrary ? Did the location of your network drive look something like "\\DriveName\" ? For example, my NAS would appear as "\\dlink-DF5DCF" if I select it from the "Network" tab, but it appears as "Z:" if I select it from the "Computer" tab.

 no i simply meant e:\ instead of the usual E:\

I didn't think of that. It makes sense :) . For me I cant scan E:\Movies because it has a folder called '_Unsorted' With movies I have yet to categorize or fix file names for etc.

I'm happy to hear that :D

It's a weird thing that I still haven't figured out. When I try on my computer, the drive letter is capitalized. But apparently, it's not on your computer.

A few days ago, a user sent me his coollection file. He was using the program since only 1 week. At the beginning, all the locations were something like "f:\movies", and suddenly it became something like "F:Movies".

I have no idea why Windows sometimes messes with the capitalization.

It's a good habit to keep in a separate folder the files that you don't want to be scanned.

But instead of "E:\Movies\_Unsorted", that folder should rather be "E:\Movies Unsorted" (or something like that), and nothing would prevent you anymore from scanning the folder "E:\Movies".

Yeah, It used to be but i had to move it... :worried:

I have access to about 8tb daily and am planning to get 4tb more soon. This comes from various drives computers, and software accessing them. Deciding file locations can get a bit complicated. There are many factors I must consider that most people don't...

I have no idea what those factors can be. Average user like me surely don't have those kind of considerations.

You're no average
