I don't know what to say... I love movies, and making a movie costs a lot of money. I don't want the movie industry to die because of the piracy :sorry:

Re: Good news

sure, i agree !!

since i am able, to first see the movie "illegal",
i go to the cinema more then i did before !!

Now i know the movie i want to see in the cinema
is an good movie and wont be dissapointed afterwards

So in my opinion the only one that loses, is the
industrie selling movies on DVD, that´s not my
problem....

Look at this :
1 12/18/2009 Avatar $425,000,000 $760,507,625 $2,783,918,982
2 5/24/2007 Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End $300,000,000 $309,420,425 $960,996,492
source : http://www.the-numbers.com/movie/budgets/
the most expensive movies all times.

When they are able to invest so incredibly much money
then i don´t have to worry if they survive.

I don't know any other person who does that.

A movie makes money when it's released in theaters + when it's released in video + when it aired on TV.

Personally, I'll never go to the theater again, now that all the movies are shown in 3D (hate it, doesn't bring anything, makes the experience painful, gives me a headache for several hours).

Investing in a movie is always risky, always. It's never a sure bet, never. IMHO, when the producers make money, they well deserve it.

Well just one example, i saw Avatar "illegal", then i´ve seen it in the cinema 3 times...
and in 3D, no headache, no problems with my eyes. I own a 3D television and watch
3D movies (mainly nature movies) and think it´s just great....

Whitout "illegal movie download" your coollector would only be usefull for some rich
people, able to afford buying so many movies that they would lose control over them.

This year the amount of cinema visitors in the Netherlands has gone up by 0.8%

Most of the actors and actrices i see on television, drive cars and own houses
that are so expensive, that i don´t feel sorry for them. The moviemakers take a
risk, that does anybody else creating something they like to sell and get rich with.

Most movies stay in theaters less than a month. It's very tight to watch a screener, then go to the theater. I don't criticize you. I just say that I doubt there's many people like you. Maybe you're like the only person in the world who goes more often to the theater thanks to the piracy.

Lucky you :D

I watch tons of TV, and haven't bought or even watched a DVD in years. The offer on TV is just incredible. Lots of channels, with lots of great series and lots of great movies. I don't even have enough time to watch all the good stuff that is shown for free, though I spend more hours each day than the average person. Years ago, it wasn't like that. But now, we're so spoiled, I don't see the need to steal or even to collect. My DVD collection is rotting on a shelf.

You're talking about the top actors, the most bankable actors, the lucky few... It's not them who take the risk of losing millions. Them, they just take their fee...

It's hard to finance a film, because it's very risky. If it becomes more and more risky because of the piracy, the creation will die. We'll only get remakes and sequels of popular franchises. Oh, wait, it's already happening

Weird coincidence, I've just heard this news on TV: in 2013, only 10% of the french movies were profitable, and none of the 10 biggest budgets were profitable.

The movie "Le premier homme" costed 10,000,000 euros and earned 210,000 euros.

:(

I don't really like the Cinema much anymore. Too much people and too many distractions. I'd prefer a good home theater setup anyday. I was disappointed when i saw avengers in 3D and haven't seen anything else since so I don't really know just how good 3D is at this point.

The thing though is that you don't really have access to most of the premium streaming services in Jamaica and video stores are next to non-existent.

Nowadays i read more than anything else and i mostly watch series and older stuff when i do watch TV.

Maybe they should consider putting less money into a movie, unless it´s a good movie ;-)
French movies sucks anyway :D

Thats bad, cinema is the best way to experiense movies...

Focus !!!

In private, having a break when YOU want to, is not bad at all

Maybe take a look at Avatar 3D or some IMAX or BBC nature movie, there are
3D movies created out of 2D, those i don´t like. When looking at an real 3D movie
i think it´s great.

This means you use piracy, or not ?

kakashi wrote:Nowadays i read more than anything else and i mostly watch series and older stuff when i do watch TV.

Television is the worst way of entertainment, breaks every 10 - 15 minutes that scream into
my poor ears. Some guy somewhere who´s responsible for the evening filling program that
givis me the chance to go to the toilet when HE thinks its time..... No thanx

Television is only used for watching movies, loaded from payserver.
I would like to stay in control over my evening.

Sadly, there is no IMAX in Jamaica.

My bad for incorrect phrasing. I don't own an 'actual' tv. My computer is equipped with 1080p and a blu-ray drive (that I don't really get to use much) though...
