Local database

Fri Apr 18, 2014 10:24 pm

Hi,

Is there a way to download and store all the details of the owned movies locally as I don't have access to internet for the periods of time and this feature would be helpful?

Thanks,
Fish

Everything is stored locally and you can use the program without any internet connection. Only the pictures are downloaded from the internet, but once you've downloaded a picture, it's saved on your disk.

For your information, I know of some users who are marines or soldiers in Afghanistan. They use the portable version of the program which they keep on an USB key.

Yes, maybe I have not formulated the question properly. Now I have to go from movie to movie and wait until it downloads pics. Is there a way to do a batch update for movies owned? If I remember well while ago you had complete database for download? And one more thing, I have a feeling that your server is quite slow...

Cheers

If you click the button "owned", all your owned movies will be listed and it shouldn't take long to download all the pictures. You also have the option to download the pictures as a zip file:

I'm afraid the zip is a bit old, but it should contain 80% of the pictures.

I suppose you're talking about the zip file above.

Thank you for your feedback. Everything seems fine on my side. What part of the world are you from?

Do someone else have problems too?

We have 5 different servers, and when Coollector starts, it picks one of them randomly. Yesterday, the DNS of one of the servers has changed, maybe it's the explanation for the slowness. If you feel that the server is slow, please close and restart the program, and tell me if that helps.

Update: So it does download available actor/staff faces quite quick but then on not available, in some movies converts to grey silhouettes, on some just grey field, and on some hangs with rolling dots, actually most of them... Maybe that's why I thought it is slow server, but instead it can be a bug....

But thanks to be so responsive Hector...

Cheers

That's the expected behaviour: no picture => grey silhouette.

That's not normal. I've been hit by this bug myself, several times. But it's so elusive that I've never been able to fix it, even though I've tried very hard :(

I just recorded short video of the behaviour but if you already know it no use, I suppose I will live with it... :D

The rolling dots keep rolling, endlessly, and the picture is never received... Am I missing something.

I'm really sorry about that. It happens all the time? Even if you stop and restart the program? What part of the world are you from?

If it happens to you all the time, maybe it's an opportunity to fix this damn bug. If you're ok to give some of your time, I can contact you in a couple of days with a test version to understand what's going wrong. Can I count on you?

When we can get the updated image .zip files for 2014 films?

Why not also publish in .zip format, the images of the actors?

Greetings

I want to do all that, but I've been busy with more prioritary tasks :(
