Barcode Scanner Problems

I bought a barcode scanner which I used to build my library of DVD's. This week I went to add some new material and the scanner program handshake was not there. I figure it is either a problem with the scanner or the program. I have recently upgraded my OS to Mavericks. One thing I need to ask is what setting does my scanner have to be on to hookup with the program. The info on my scanner is ARM 32 bit Cortex V3.0

Your barcode scanner just simulates a keyboard input (as if you had entered the barcode yourself with the keyboard).

Please make the test to open a text editor, and scan a barcode. If the barcode isn't added to the text you're editing, then your scanner isn't working properly. You should check if your scanner has some configuration settings that you can adjust.
