Perhaps this should be in "bugs". I made a mistake on my library and need to start again (or go to an earlier backup).

I've followed the instructions for removing the the MyCoollection.cool file in Mac:

If you're using Mac OS X, the default coollection file is
"~/Movies/Coollector Movie Database/MyCoollection.cool".

I also put the backups in the trash and emptied it.

I also uninstalled the program and reinstalled it.

Guess what? It still knows all of my movies. There must be a hidden file somewhere. Can someone please direct me to where it is?

Thanks,

Please close Coollector and make sure that you delete that file.

When you'll open Coollector again, you'll see that file reappear, but this time it's a brand new file without any data.

I did follow instructions and closed the program before deleting the file and before I posted.--even tried deleting the program and the MyCollector.cool file. There is a hidden file somewhere.
I did find more of the program in ~Library/Preferences. com.Coollector.CoollectorMovieDatabase.plist and com.Coolector.CoollectorMovieDatabase.plist.lockfile

There must be more somewhere.

When you delete the file, does it reappear when you launch Coollector?

Click the menu "Help->Locate the coollection file".

What's the path of your file?

The path is exactly where you say it should be.
~/Movies/Coollector Movie Database/MyCoollection.cool

You know the definition of insanity? Doing the same thing again and expecting a different result.

You won't believe this....this is insane.

I decided to try once again (before hitting 'send' several lines ago). Closed the program. Deleted the file and restarted the program. Voila!! The MyCoollection file is empty and their are no known movies.

Thank you so much.

Another interesting aspect of this is that my backups are now fully populated. There were only 3 backups, all from the beginning of this year.
Now I won't have to rebuild my library from scratch. I'll simply use a recent backup that I know is OK, and go from there.

Thanks again

I have no idea what happened... As you said, it's crazy

Glad that the problem is now solved!

I found the cause of the problem.

These are your instructions.

If you're using Mac OS X, the default coollection file is
"~/Movies/Coollector Movie Database/MyCoollection.cool"

When I went through Help to locate the file and then right clicked to get info, I found that it is actually located here:

~/Library/Containers/com.Coollector.CoollectorMovieDatabase/Data/Movies/Coollector Movie Database

Hope that helps.

This is contradictory... I knew that the help menu would give the correct path ;)

Ok, then you're using the Mac App Store version. I'm still quite confused, but Apple's Sandboxing can be quite confusing... I'll have to make some testings to figure it out.
