Well, the season is upon us and I am trying to find an easy way to locate all my "holiday" movies (how the grinch stole christmas, frosty the snowman, etc.)

Is there an easy way already that I cannot find? If not, could you add a genre for "holiday"

Nope.

Sorry, "holiday" is a minor genre. I don't plan to add it.

Thanks, Hector -

Try telling my wife that Holiday is a minor genre!!

Anyway, what I came up with to appease her is to add a new "detail" Holiday.
Then I searched for the string "Christmas" and scrolled through the 559 movies that were in the Database for the ones I owned, edited them to include the new detail "holiday"

Then asked the resident holiday movie fanatic what other holiday movies did not include the word Christmas in the tile, and seached for those and edited to include the new detail "holiday"

Seemed to work pretty good, and did not take too long to accomplish

Anyone have a better work-around??

By "detail", I suppose that you mean "tag".

What you did seems to be the best solution. Sorry that I didn't suggest it.

No, I did not think to use the tags feature.

What I did is clicked the add/remove filters in the left pane, then added the "video detail" filter, and then added a new filter called "holiday"

It looks like tags would do the same thing.

Thanks.

I think tags would be better. Tags allow you to create your own genres. What you did is a bit weird because it works only with your owned videos instead of the movie itself.

The tag "Holiday" would be displayed below the movie title (next to the genres), which isn't the case with your method.

IMDB links 4,333 titles with the keyword "Christmas." It's not a minor genre. I would also like a Holiday category. Trying to find a movie to watch with family on the holidays would be a lot easier.

As you say, it's just a keyword. Even the IMDb doesn't consider "holiday" as a genre.

There are hundreds of keywords that match a lot of movies. I won't add hundreds of genres.

If the keyword "holiday" is really important to you, then you can use our tag feature.

Looks like a big number, except that it includes a lot of series episodes...
