Movie differs from filename

Fri Apr 10, 2015 8:05 pm

Apologies if this has been addressed elsewhere but I'm new to the program. I'm scanning my dvd rips and the movie database is coming up with a completely different movie from the filename. Specifically, I have an MP4 of Schindlers list and it's bringing up War (Jason Statham). The Sinking of the Laconia is being displayed as a Harry Potter movie etc. There are a few others too. I can't rename the files because it's saying Schindlers List is already in the database and there is no option to select the correct movie. Kind of baffled here - what can I do? I don't want to add the movie manually because it won't associate the filename with the new movie and I want to keep the database updated. Thanks.

It's not "Schindlers list", it's "Schindler's list". You just have to rename the file to add the missing apostrophe.

Because the scan engine couldn't find the word "Schindlers" in any movie title, it used the folder name to identify the movie. My guess is that your MP4 is inside a folder whose name starts with "War".

What's the exact name of the file and the folder it's in?

Sorry, this message doesn't make sense to me. Are you sure it's the exact message that you get?

I don't think there's any drawback to associating a file manually. What are you afraid of?

Thanks Hector. The renaming worked (per the exact wording on IMDB). My error.
