How to find the correct drive ?

Thu Oct 19, 2017 3:26 pm

Hi, please see attached picture,
when using the find missing files this is the result !

skinnas.jpg

Sometimes i have up to 5 drives connected to the NAS but not always.
When scanning i can't see on whitch drive the missing files are located. It
shows 3x \\QSkinnas. Could you make the result window show the drivename
or the complete path ?

Why !!
The drives are not always on. So when i scan, i have to connect ALL drives
to the NAS, otherwise i delete movies from the database that are not missing at all.

See the structure:

structure.jpg

QSkinnas is the NAS containing Film 1 to 6
QSkinnas hdd_8 and hdd_9 are attached drives, the drives
hdd_7 - HDD-10 and hdd-11 are not connected

The files will be deleted that are on those drives.

grtz

Please replace your current Coollector.exe with this one:

http://www.coollector.com/Coollector.exe

and tell me if the bug is fixed.

The fixed version above will make abstraction of the capitalization differences, but I realize that it won't solve your problem of the various drives attached to the NAS. I had never thought of this case scenario and I don't know what could be the right solution. I need to give it some thought...

Great

This way can check the files 1 by 1
and the scanproces is much faster !!

The program distinguishes between the different drives especially to handle the case when some drives are disconnected. The problem with your structure is that your QSKINNAS appears as a single drive.

hmmm i don't understand that.
Anyway, when the search result is shown as it does now, i'm satisfied ;-)

If you're satisfied that's great, because I don't know how I could handle your file structure better.

The only thing that could make live easier is to enable multiselect in the scan window
by holding down the shift buttun.

I agree. Unfortunately, I've made some research, and there's no way I can add this behaviour (I'm just using a standard system dialog).

Well then selecting a whole disk would be better, deselecting 300 movies is a lot !!

There's also a small "bug"
See the screenshot :

Files are on disk.jpg

The files are on disk, the search says there not !!

P.S.
Not all, only those 5 movies on Films 7

Your QSKINNAS appears as a single drive...

From your screenshot, I can see that your drives can be accessed with a letter (HDD_7 is E:).

Instead of a network address starting with QSKINNAS, you should have scanned the drives with their individual letters and Coollector would be able to handle them fine. It's still possible to switch to that solution thanks to the tool "batch edit file associations".

I can't check the entire file path from your screenshot (you showed only the folder). Have you tried a second time to see if it's systematic?

Re: How to find the correct drive ?

Unfortunately the drive can't be accessed by driveletter because
the drives are not always connected to the same USB connector.

I Do NOT scan the complete NAS !
I scan the folders with movies on the NAS separately
\\QSKINNAS\Films\Films 1 (these movies are on the nas)
so first films 1 then films 2 and so on
Then i switch to the connected drive and point coollector at
\\Qskinnas\hdd_8\Films 8 (those movies are on connected harddisk) and start the scan there
then
\\Qskinnas\hdd_9\Films 9
and so on

The missing files error occurs at every scan...

It's not a problem for Coollector. The program detects when the letter has changed.

The file paths start with a network syntax (\\QSKINNAS\) instead of a drive letter syntax (E:\\).

When you select a folder to scan, you can select one syntax or the other, but you'll have problems if you select the network.

Well i don't know what to do !

The NAS contains private video's music video's and a lot more, scanning the
complete NAS is not an option. Can you tell me what the best structure would
be when having movies on NAS and on seperate drives that are not always
connected ?

Then:
Selecting a complete drive in the scanresult window (search for missing files on disk)
instead of selecting each file seperately, or maybe even both options, can you make that
work, in my case ?
