Request Movies - App or Inbuilt Feature

Tue May 15, 2018 6:24 pm

When the user discovers that a movie is missing from coollector database. So he opens up the browser, visits the forum and then enters "Request Movies" topic and posts the missing movie.

It seems very time consuming and I believe it might be a little hectic job for you too to look all the post for missing movies.

Since I believe you own a server or use a server, I have two suggestions for you:

Suggestion A:
What if in coollector, you put an option (Tools >> Request Missing Movie") and a small dialog box will be opened where the user will enter the imdb ID and title(optional). The program will check into your server whether any previous user request for the same or not. If yes then the program will display "Already Requested" or else it will display "Requested Successfully".

This way it will be even easier for you to look into the requested movie list and manage it.

Suggestion B:
What if you make an Android App for the same for requesting missing movies. It might be a little complicated from Suggestion A, but it will be lot easier than forum. I can help you in developing the app if you like.

Thank You for reading such a long post. :D :hi:

Not at all, the current solution is working perfectly fine for me. I have a script that collects the requests automatically, and forcing the users to register on the forum is a barrier to entry that avoids bogus requests from users who try an in-app feature.

Also, I'm receiving less and less requests as I'm getting better at adding the movies before they're requested.

Don't fix it if it ain't broken. My time is better spent working on other things ;)
