My apologies if this has been already posted or answered here. I have searched the Help section and this forum for some time and could not find a satisfactory answer to the following:

1. Scanned video files on my HD and several movies were not recognised.

2. Clicked "Rename" button and "Find ttxxxxx id"

3. I found the correct tt number from the imdb database and appended to the title. Clicked "OK"

4. (Remark: This in itself was a tedious and frustrating process as most of the time the program froze when trying to append the tt number. I had to force quit and start all over again multiple times.)

5. After appending the tt numbers I pressed "Add recognised files". Nothing happened. After finding the correct tt numbers I would have expected to see my movies somewhere in the database, but all I received was a .txt file summary of the unrecognised movies with the path to my files and the name of the movie with the tt number.

6. How does this help me locating these files? My question, what is the purpose of going through the whole process of searching and appending the tt number, when in the end I don't see the movies nowhere in the program?

Your help in this matter is very much appreciated.

Please give me the file names of those movies which were not recognized.

Rather than adding the IMDb Id, most of the time it's easier to fix typos in the name or to add the year of the movie.

Anyway, I've indeed found a bug with the IMDb Id. Now the IMDb has some 8-digits Ids, before they were all 7-digits. And the scanning algorithm bugs with 8-digits Ids. I have fixed that. Were your Ids 8-digits?

Wow, that's really bad! I will do my best to reproduce and fix this uglyness.

Ok, that's 2 bugs I could fix thanks to your feedback, thank you very much!

Please replace your current Coollector.exe with this fixed one:

https://www.coollector.com/Coollector.exe

Don't forget to give me the name of the files that were not recognized, maybe I'll be able to fix a bunch of other bugs

It does work only with a few movies.

No, they were all 7 digits (see above).

Seriously, that's how your files are named? Of course it can't work.

The app won't even recognize "5635006" as an IMDb Id because the IMDb Id would be "tt5635006".

Here's how you should do it:

Keep your files with a human-readable title, for example "21 Days Under the Sky.avi". In most cases the app will be able to identify it. If it doesn't, you can fix typos or add the year to the title, i.e. "21 Days Under the Sky (2016).avi". Finally as a very last resort you can append the IMDb Id => "21 Days Under the Sky (2016) tt5635006.avi"

I think that you didn't understand how the "Rename" dialog works. It sends you to the IMDb search page where you're supposed to find the right movie and copy the IMDb Id (including the leading "tt"). When you go back to the dialog, it detects that you've copied an IMDb Id and appends it to the file name.

Sorry that the "rename" dialog wasn't clear enough. I don't really know what I should change about it. You're welcome if you have suggestions.

Sorry, but you have completely misunderstood me.
In order not to add to every number the "tt" I have omitted it in the list, but explained above when I said "Here they are in tt".

Next.
Of course I have appended the complete tt number after the title. Your program does it automatically. So, I have done everything as in your example "21 Days Under the Sky (2016) tt5635006.avi".
As mentioned before, once clicking on "Rename File" "OK", all I got was a txt file but no listing in the searchable database. Hope this explains.

I think I will:

1) rename the button "Find ttxxxxxxx Id" into "Find IMDb Id".

2) after the sentence "you can append the IMDb Id of the movie/series" I'll add "For example the Id of Inception (2010) is tt1375666".

What do you think?

I just made the test (with the latest Coollector.exe). The file was correctly renamed and after I clicked "add the recognized files" it was added to the database.

Did you click the button "add the recognized files"?

Hector, the Coollector.exe does not work for me as I am running MAC OS.

Otherwise I did exactly everything you mentioned and for good order just now tried again with the sample "21 Days Under the Sky tt5635006".
Clicked "Rename File" "OK" and then clicked "Add the recognised file".

Then a .txt file pops up with the file path, name and tt number. After exiting this .txt file I searched in your program with "Movie title search". Nothing.

Then I scrolled down my "owned" files listed with images in the left panel from top to bottom. Again nothing.

The only thing I noticed is that on my HD the tt number was added to the movie name: "21 Days Under the Sky tt5635006.mp4".

BTW if everything else fails, maybe you can add the aforementioned movies, for which I gave you the tt numbers, in your database?

Here's the latest Mac version with several bugs fixed:

http://www.coollector.com/Coollector_Movie_Database.zip

I've tested it and the appending the IMDb Id worked fine for me, the file was correctly added to the database. I hope it'll work fine for you too. If it's not the case, please tell me what to do to reproduce the bug.
