Just an idea. Is it possible a search tab could work this way? Just looks up words specified in the plot field.

1) Searching all the plots would be very slow, so slow that it would look like a bug because we're used to get nearly instant results everywhere else. The database is very fast for searching titles because the titles are indexed. Indexing the plots would greatly increase the size of the database.

2) The needed changes to the interface would probably be awkward, like for example your suggestion to add a tab dedicated to this kind of search.

3) Searching a word in a plot is hit-or-miss. Plots are short and don't necessarily contain the word that you'd expect them to contain. Keywords are better, still not perfect, and once again they would significantly increase the size of the database. I've weighted the pros and cons and finally decided to rule out including keywords.

Yeah I meant as an addition, not as a replacement for tagging.

I was just curious.

I've explained how it would be difficult to add plot search or keywords to the app, I never talked about tagging. Interestingly, one feature that I consider adding in the future is tagging from a list on IMDb.

For example, it could be the list of movies containing the keyword "robot"

https://www.imdb.com/search/keyword/?keywords=robot

Or it could be a user list, for example a list of christmas movies

https://www.imdb.com/list/ls050803448/

You'd give the app an IMDb address, then you'd decide what tag to add to the movies found on that list.
