Barcodes from TXT file

Wed Oct 04, 2023 12:02 am

Is it posible to read barcodes stored in txt file? I found a mobile app Barcode2win and can quick scan discs, next by wifi it is saved in a list on a Barcode2win program on PC, next I could be add all barcodes to the Coollector.

edit: It works even better, just like a handheld scanner, a mobile app scans, sends via Wi-Fi to the program, and it transfers it to Coollector and immediately adds it to the database.

Yes with the menu "Tools->Import->Import a list of video barcodes".

Sounds very interesting indeed, thank you for telling us!

I'll try it and I'll probably mention it in our help page :w00t:

When I launch the Windows app, it's blocked by my antivirus who claims that it contains a trojan horse.

I made a Google search and found this article about another scanner app:

I'm not so sure that it's a good idea to recommend this app :(

Even if it was a false positive and the app wasn't harmful, I'm afraid it's too complex to run it.

Searching the Play Store I've found "Barcode to PC" which seems much better than "Barcode2win".

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.barcodetopc&hl=en_US&gl=US
https://barcodetopc.com/

It has way more users. It works on Windows, Mac and Linux. Coollector also receives the barcode as a keyboard input. Most importantly, it doesn't seem to pose any security threat.

If you don't want to pay anything, "Barcode to PC" seems to be the best solution.

Personally the solution that I recommend is to buy a real handheld scanner, some are very cheap and work very well, for example I got mine for only 5 euros and it's a delight to use.
