And what would you think about this third solution: and undo option (with checkboxes).
You'd select the menu "Tools->Undo".
A window would appear with the history of all your recent actions (associated a video file, rated a movie, etc...).
And of course there would be checkboxes in front of each action, to undo it if you want to.

Absolutely Fantastic, 
It not only solves the problem of accidentally adding a hundred incorrect files at once, but also provides a way to fix a wide variety of other mistakes people tend to make.

Not 3.0. I don't know when this feature will be added.
