3.03 download messed up

Sun Jul 31, 2011 9:57 am

Going to the download link gets something titled:
cnet_Coollector_Setup.exe.exe

Needless to say that a 444 kB file is not Coollector 3.03

What is up with that?

Oh my god, first the false positive with Norton, and now download.com who fucks up the link... We're cursed :cry2:

I've changed the link on our homepage:

http://www.coollector.com

and I'm about to release a new version, which hopefully will fix all this mess.

Thank you very much for your feedback !

Thank you for the info. I don't understand what download.com is doing. It's confusing. I can't say that I like it :x

I frequently receive proposals to be paid to include a toolbar to Coollector's intaller, and of course I always refuse.

If you google "babylon toolbar", you get tons of messages from people who try desperately to remove it

I have no choice but to stop linking to download.com.

They were number one, but I predict that soon hardly nobody will use their site anymore.

I'm terribly disappointed :x

Hi,..

Maybe i´m not the average user, but i don´t care at all if an installer
comes with or without toolbar, with or without other stuff,.... When i want
the program i accept the shitt that comes with it. Usually it´s just a few
mouse-clicks to remove the carbage from my PC.
Wenn i only want the program i always go to the website of the developer
and even then u can´t be sure the installer is clean !

So i wonder if this installer could harm you/your prgrams reputation ????

Unacceptable in my opinion. I respect my users, I don't package my program with a shitty toolbar.

I don't know about my reputation, but I wouldn't find ethical to trouble my users with this shit, especially the users who are the less computer savvy.

I have to regularly clean my mother's computer from shit like that. I hate those toolbars with a passion ! They're useless and take up space. What do they expect ? That we will install several dozen toolbars ? And even worse, they flood you with unwanted ads.

I respect the way you think and i am glad you work this way
I was speaking for myself when i say i´ve got no problems
when somebody tries to promote his program and someone
else puts a toolbat to the installer,.... that´s not you´re fault

I always choose no and use custom to make sure i see all choices made when I install software. Anythings else that makes it's way through WILL be deleted/uninstalled.

I respect you for that. A friend of mine who doesn't know much about computers ended up with more than half of her browser's window covered in useless toolbars (only leaving maybe 2 or 3 inches). When I asked why she had them all she told me she didn't even know it was possible to remove them. That is truly unacceptable.

Hopefully there will be more people who will be as Considerate as Hector. :)

I've discovered that download.com had an opt-out option.

I've contacted them, and indeed they've immediatly removed their installer.

Great !
