I have been looking for a good movie database app for awhile. I went through like six before I found coollector. it beats them all by a long shot.

idk how hard it would be , but can you add a 'plot keywords' filter?

these search options would be useful.

made <before> <year>
made <in> <year>
made <before> <year>

rating <higher then> <rating>
rating <is> <rating>
rating <lower then> <rating>

have you ever used apple's (osx) search function? not spotlight. it looks kind of like that.

IMDB just isnt doing it for me. maybe I need to get imdb pro.

Well, technically, it's far from easy. We have so many movies that indexation would be an absolute requirement.

Is it worth it ? Not in my opinion. For instance, the IMDb handles keywords, but it's a feature that I consider worthless and never use. Do you use it ?

Yes, it's planned. The same way that we have a filter "genre2", we'll add a filter "year2" to search for a year range.

Maybe we could add a "rating2", but is it really worth it ? You can already set the filter to "positively rated" or "negatively rated". And when you set the filter to "rated", the movies are ordered by rating, excellent movies first, etc... Do you really need more ?

Not spotlight ? Do you mean the search from the Finder ? What part should we get inspiration from ?

Do you have a Mac ? The Mac version of Coollection will soon be submitted to the Mac App Store (hopefully tomorrow).

sorry i wasnt clear I meant the imdb rating.

i like the keywords cuz i can search for zombie movies or decapitation lol . im not a programmer , i was thinking it might not be hard to make a bot to suck all the keywords off imdb. the only reason i asked was because i like using coolector more then imdb and keywords seem to be the only thing its missing.

I usually try to post intelligent comments . i dont think this was one of those times. I just remember liking the way they set up the finder search..

its fine the way it is.

You can already order the movies by IMDb rating, from the best rated to the worst rated. I don't see the point of adding a rating range filter.

Maybe one day we'll add the keywords feature, but I doubt it.

This feature has been added with version 3.24.1.

Just gonna piggyback on the subject. Soooo...What's up! Been a long while since I posted, but I've been looking in at the program every once in a while. I've bought the most recent one and it looks very nice! I still can't program in Java to help in an Android version, but I hope to one day. Probably once I get out of the military. Keep up the great work!

Version 3.24.8 will bring a 3x more accurate rating system (with plus or minus modifiers). Also with this version, it'll be possible to collapse the video boxes + to set the number of lines of the description + to hide one of the panels to have all the screen for the other panel.

Then version 3.24.9 will bring several other neat interface improvements.

Then it'll be time to add an import feature and to extend the current export feature (XML and json formats, and the choice of what information is listed).

Then I'll add a watching details icon, then tags, then persons alerts, etc...

In other words, the next versions should be quite exciting. Stay tuned 8)

I agree that an Android version would be very nice. wxWidgets (the cross-platform C++ framework that I use to build Coollector) has plans to support Android in the future. When that comes true, I'll be all for it!

FYI, wxWidgets also has an iOS port which is near completion. Mmmm... can't wait!

3.24.8 should be released this week-end.

I apologize for the delay. First, I've had a disk crash that made me lose several days of works. And then, what started as a very small feature, hiding one of the two panels, has finally turned into something much bigger, a whole single-pane mode, with its own panel layout, its own style of navigation, etc...
