It was a sad decision, but unfortunately the freeware model never worked. Affiliation never brought in enough money to pay the rent.

I have sent free licences to some users who had made great contributions to the program in the past.

If you think that I forgot you, and that your past contributions deserve a free licence, then send me a private message.

Good for you Hector.

Folks should appreciate your time and trouble.

Now you can pay the rent and eventually get that almost new Ferrari you know you always wanted!

Cheers

 :w00t: :yahoo:

The first results are good, and I don't regret my decision. Thank you very much to everyone who purchased a licence !

That's a great relief to know that I won't be forced to take an alimentary job, and to consequently neglect Coollector.

Not really my kind of dream. I rather dream of a campervan with a satellite internet connection. :excited:

I'd travel the world, while still working hard on Coollector, of course.

But this campervan dream isn't prioritary. If there's enough money, the first thing I'll do is hiring my cousin Stef, so he can leave his alimentary job, and work again full time on maintaining the movie database.

After that, if there's still enough money, we would grow the team, and Coollector would improve much faster than now. :V:

It's not an annual licence. You're buying a licence for Coollector Movie Database version 3.

Version 4 won't be released until 2 or 3 years.

When version 4 will be released, I don't know yet whether the owners of version 3 will have the version 4 for free, or if they'll have to pay a fraction of the full price.

All I can say, it's that I'm not a greedy person.

I wish that your licence will be valid forever, but I can't guarantee that it'll be the case.

I don't know the future.

Not so long ago, I was convinced that Coollector would stay free forever :(

Google offered me a 100 euros promo code, so I'm making an attempt. My ads are currently under review (since 2 days).

Adwords is not cheap, and I'm not sure that the R.O.I. will be satisfactory for a $13 product.

What do you think on idea to make money on downloads:

I'm not sure how much is popular Coollector, but you can make $10 per 1000 downloads.

This is how cryptload do

Cheers :hi:

Depositfiles is all about piracy. People go there to get pirated movies, pirated software, pirated stuff...

I admit that it's clever to distribute your software this way, but I don't think I would do it, because it's not a serious way to distribute my software. If I'd do it, my users would call me "greedy" and they'd be right :worried:

Personally, if I see a program distributed this way, I immediately think that it's a crapware, and I don't even download it :nono:

Hey just would like to say that i have enjoyed your program for years, on several computers that have been lost, stolen and or replaced.Point being in all that time i never registerd, until today. Thats also when i stumbled upon the price for the program for which i feel is well worth the price. Question i really had is every time i try to update i get error message, Is this because i need to upgrade to newer version ? Great Program ADW

Several versions ago, the automatic update had a bug, which is now fixed. But you can't update with that old version. You'll have to download and install the latest version (just install, do not uninstall anything before):

The second time that you'll run the shareware version, a nagging window will show up on startup, suggesting to buy a license. You'll click the "buy a license" button which will direct you to our order page, where you'll buy with your credit card or PayPal account. One minute after the purchase, you will receive your license key at the email address that you gave.
