Hello,

I am new to this forum and glad to be here. :)

So, I've been looking for a movie data base for quite a long time. Coollector seems to be the ideal one for my requirements with decent file scanning speeds and acceptable auto detection of titles. I am using the free version now but would love to buy it if there is a chance of getting just one feature.

I have a huge Bluray collection. But all the discs are kept safe while I use the MKV files created from them for viewing from my HTPC. I would love to know if it is possible to have MediaInfo (http://mediainfo.sourceforge.net/) integration to Coollector. I just need to have an extra multiline text field in each movies properties which shows Video/Audio codec, bit rates etc (auto-detected while scanning).

Do you think it is doable with the current version? If yes please tell me how? If not, can I expect it in a future version.

Thanks,
Hemanth

Not with the current version.

It's on my todo list, but many improvements are more prioritary than this one.

It won't be a multiline text field. Some properties (the audio codec) will be stored as "sound" values, others (the resolution) as "image" values, and the rest (bit rates, etc...) as "detail" values. And of course, you'll be able to make a search with the corresponding filters.

Thanks for the quick reply mate. Sad to hear that it is not a priority but I hope it will be added in the near future.

In the mean time, is it possible to add a custom multiline text box in the movie properties where I can manually enter the video/audio details? e.g. a 'Notes' box. As far as I am concerned, this is the only feature I need to stop searching for an alternative and settle with Coollector. :sos:

Cheers,
Hemanth

In my opinion, it's a bad idea to gather all the properties inside a text field.

Instead, you should use the existing fields. For example:

image => 624 x 352
sound => mp3
details => 1025 Kbps
running time => 119 mn

I indeed plan to add such a multiline text field, but it'll be better used for writing some personal notes about the video, instead of gathering the properties of the file.

I also plan to add multiline text fields to write a personal note and a personal review about the movie itself.

Look forward to it being implemented in the next releases.

Also I'll be purchasing the full version soon! :D

How about using graphics to represent some of the info for each video in the owned videos box (eg. DVD icon, Blu-Ray icon, VHS, SD, HD, DTS, Dolby digital, 5.1, 7.1, aac, Mp3, H.264, 1080p, 720p, 16:9, etc.

As you have proven throughout Coollector simple images can tell a lot of information while looking cooler and taking up less space.
(I think xbmc uses a similar approach too)

---------------------------------------------------------------

Also, adding a 'pull-out' would add more real estate to the owned videos box with a single click. You would even have more space to work with if you want to to allow selection/deletion of multiple files or opening the file location etc. in the future.

Hope i don't sound like a nagging salesman :whistle:

I'll use the XBMC approach when I'll replace the Cooliris view with a media center view.

Strangely, you took a screenshot with a movie of which you don't own any video. If you had owned videos, there wouldn't be room for the toggle button you drawed.

And in which case do you need to view the owned videos with more real estate ? Only for series you own many videos, and if they are on your hard disk, it's easier to list them by clicking the "play" icon.

What ? You've lost your data ? Coollector's fault ?
