Dear Hector

For the sake of earning a free license, many members are uploading very low quality character pictures captured from cam ripped avi files which are giving aukward look to coollector interface. please provide a means to hide charater pics for those who don't want to see them.

Thanks with regards

RAM

The character contributions that we receive are of very good quality, as good as the person contributions.

Indeed, for the moment, you can only view them as thumbnails inside the grids. But in a future version, you'll be able to see them in full size.

Personally, the character pictures is one of my favorite feature, so I'm very surprised that you don't like it. Who else is bothered by the character pictures ?

In most of the cases character pics does not reveal the face of the person at all unless you imagine it, but the person pictures are very comfortable.

That's true, and I'm responsible for this. Those are character pictures, thus I encourage people to contribute pictures where we can actually recognize the character, and even sometimes the movie scene itself. It wouldn't be possible with face close-ups. That's why the character pictures are cropped differently from the person pictures.

It's clearly a feature that I won't remove. Many users just love that feature. I think it's great in cases where the actor is hardly recognizable in his role, or if the actor has changed a lot since the movie was done (young Mickey Rourke, or Sean Connery, or Macauly Culkin). There's also the pleasure of being reminded of a character or a scene. And finally, more than once did a character picture make me add a movie to my wishlist.

If there are many users who feel like you, in the future I might add an option to disable it.

I have never asked you to remove this feature, i only requested you to provide a setting to hide character picture where ever a person picture is available. you can wait until enough members request for the same.

Thanks

That's what I'll do. I never had such a request before.

You finally convinced me with your linguistic capabilities of explaining things. Let the feature be as it is. I never thought so deeply into the importance of character pics.

I like character pictures for animations. I like to be able to tell who voices which characters. Not really necessary for eddie murphy in shrek though, he kinda already resembles donkey.
