Location Filter hanging program

Mon Feb 04, 2013 11:11 pm

When I add a location filter, if I try to use it with any selection other than 'owned videos', a message box pops up, saying it only works with owned videos.

However when owned videos is selected, clicking on the location filter box or drop-down arrow, causes the program to hang completely, needs to be killed with task manager; there's some suggestion it might be trying to access disks (hard drive light thrashes a bit, an external drive spins up), but it never responds again to input...

(in any case I don't know if it what do what I need - I've had a drive fail, and I need to find out which movies were on that drive/folder - in theory would this filter help? or is there any other way I can find out, short of individually checking each film...)

Thanks,

It's normal. Only the videos that you own have a location. The message is to help the users understand that it doesn't make sense to use that filter with the whole database.

Not completely ;)

If you wait long enough, several minutes, it'll finally end its calculations.

Thank you very much for reporting this problem. It happens that I'm already aware of it:

I've been able to make the process much faster, and tomorrow I'll release a new version with this emprovement.

The hanging problem has been fixed several versions ago. But if you have thousands of video files, the popdown of the location filter can still take several seconds to show.

Are you using the latest version of Coollector? How many playable movies do you have? Do you have lots of series episodes?
