I just downloaded Win 8.1 and IE 11. Now I can't get updates. I get an unable to connect message. Any suggestions?

Do you also have problems with downloading the pictures? If Coollector can't download anything, it could be your firewall which is blocking the program.

I have turned off all firewall protection. Still no luck. I have had a lot of problems with Win 8.1 and IE 11. I finally got everything working correctly except Coolector. Seems that it is trying to get another IE connection. Win 8.1 won't let me go back to an earlier IE. I'll keep trying to find a work-around.

I don't understand why you talk about Internet Explorer. Coollector doesn't use Internet Explorer to download the updates.
Are you using Coollector's menu "Tools->Update"?
Apart from updates, can the program download the pictures of movies and persons?

If the program fails to update, you still have the possibility to download the latest setup and install it (don't uninstall anything, just install again).

When I open Coollector, the program updates if there is one. Mine doesn't even try. As suggested, I will occasionally download the program. That should keep me up to date. Thanks

It looks like you've disabled the automatic update.
To enable it again, select the menu "Tools->Update", then tick the checkbox.
