Antivir Detecting Dropper DR/Fraud.WinDefen.A

Fri Nov 28, 2008 5:24 pm

Hey I was reinstalling coollector and it tripped Antivir.

It says it contains a pattern of the dropper DR/Fraud.WinDefen.A

They published that detection pattern on 21 November.

Thank you very much for reporting this problem.

In fact, Softpedia.com has just refused Coollector 2.27 because of this virus detection.

Don't worry too much, it's a false positive.

I've installed Avira Antivir, and all the files inside the installer "Coollector_Setup.exe" are clean. Only when I compile the installer it is reported as infected.

I've made some tests, and I think I should be able to eliminate this false warning by making some slight changes to the way the installer is compiled.

Yippi ! I've found the origin of the problem: I had upgraded NSIS, my install builder.

By reverting to an older version of NSIS, the installer isn't confused with a virus anymore.

[RANT]I wouldn't say that the problem comes from NSIS. More likely, it's Avira Antivir who has virus signatures that suck.[/RANT]
