problems with windows 7

Wed Jul 06, 2011 3:39 pm

Let me begin by saying that I love the program. I used it a few years ago and really enjoyed it. I have a new laptop running Windows 7 and my antivirus program (Norton 360) will not let me run the program. It says the software is "behaving erratically" and deletes everything. Also, when I am adding my movies into the database I cannot select the correct cover photo. I'm forced to use the default photo.

It has to be a false positive. What version did you install ? 2.99.28 ?

At what moment does it delete everything ?

You can't choose the poster that illustrates a movie.

But version 3 will improve things, as it'll display the cover of your owned videos (based on their barcode).

Will it stick to the default image for those of us that don't use bar-codes?

It sticks to the default image for everyone. The picture that illustrates a movie is the same for everyone, it has always been like that, and it remains like that.

The novelty with version 3 is that your owned videos can now have a cover image. If you don't give a barcode to your owned video, your video won't have any cover. If you give it the barcode of an existing video, your video will have the cover of that existing video.

Even if you don't have videos with barcodes, you'll probably use the barcode field, just to have covers (it'll be possible to copy & paste, making it easier to take the barcode from an existing video).

To sum it up, version 3 displays the default poster of the movie (like now), and it also displays, below it, the cover of your owned video (that's new).

For instance, let's say that you have a video file on your hard disk. Of course, that video file doesn't have any barcode. But you can give it the barcode of the DVD from which it's ripped, and it'll get the cover of that DVD.
