Post subject:  Aspect ratio of pictures

Hi,
it's me again... :hi:

It is not a bug - but only a question.

There are differences with the aspect ratio of pictures (normal:

and enlarged after mouse-over:

).

The width-to-height ratio ist different...

Is there a possibility to change this?

In fact, it's when you zoom the picture that you get its normal aspect ratio.

I had 2 possibilities:

1) show the pictures all with the same aspect ratio.

2) show the pictures with their normal aspect ratio.

I've chosen the first solution because the grids looked better, more harmonious.

Also, in your screenshot, you have chosen the style where the picture is in the middle of the cell. I admit that it's a style where the second solution could have worked rather well. Unfortunately, that wouldn't work at all with the other styles.

I like the way it is now. Most posters have similar aspect ratios but they are not all exactly the same. In most cases only minimal stretching occurs. So little in fact that I don't notice most of the time. If pictures were all shown in their own aspect ratio it wouldn't look as neat. They're mostly so close that it doesn't matter.

I think that slight stretched images would look better than varying aspect lenghts and widths all over the place.

That's just me though

Also note that the person and character pictures are not distorted, because I always crop them to the right aspect ratio.

I was actually wondering about that while typing my last. I've contributed Images for stretched posters but none for persons or characters. Pretty cool :D

When it helps, I also crop the movie posters, to approach the right aspect ratio.

Movie posters are generaly very tall, with too-small-to-be-readable credits at the bottom. I get rid of those credits, and voila.

Most of the time I upload they are Images for particularly difficult movies because Coollector usually has the best poster to be found (or a very good one at the least). Sometimes Reverse Image search helps too. I hate it when a really good movie doesn't have a fitting poster.Sometimes there just isn't a suitable poster and a little Image manipulation is required for watermarks etc. I hope you don't mind

Monk (2002-2009) [0039710]

Other times a lot of work is needed.
E.g. one of my favorite toons took over an hour of work (minus googling and reverse image searching for larger versions of Images) because no English posters were available in good resolution.

Good movies deserve Good posters. Why don't these people see to it that there work will be properly represented?
