Program crash while switching btw string and upc search

Mon Aug 08, 2011 4:54 am

As I've run across several upc codes that don't seem to be in the combined cduniverse / coolector database (canadian movies), I flip back and forth between the string search and the barcode search. It works several times and then locks.

General sequence is copy upc into clipboard (i have them listed already) and paste into barcode search field. When it comes up blank I switch to string search. Usually when it locks is going back to the barcode search on the next movie although it can go back and forth 4 or 5 times before it locks.

OS is vista (latest updates) and I have 3gb of ram on a q6600 cpu machine.

As a side note I've noticed that when I try to edit the upc field on an owned movie it always defaults back to the cd universe listed upc if it recognises the movie. (I figure the canadian upc codes will be valid one of these days<g>).

Yes, that's something we'll improve in the following months, but it'll take some time (there are so many videos worldwide).

Thank you for your feedback. I'll try to reproduce this bug.

How do you reset the barcode and the string search ? Do you use the ESC key on your keyboard ? Or do you click the ESC icon ?

This has to be a bug. Please give me more details as I could not reproduce it.

At what exact moment does it lock ? Is it always when doing the same thing ?

I reset the string and bar code fields using the backspace (just hold it down until it hits the beginning of the field) I'll try switching to using the esc key or icon and see what happens.

As for the rest I'll reproduce them a few times and pay closer attention.

I downloaded the debug version from another post and can run that if you wish.

No thanks, that would be useless in the case of a freeze.

But I''ll be very interested in the results of your other tests.

UPC edit :

Okay added movie modern vampires

used upc code 057373164174 and it didn't come up.
Switched to string search and found it. Selected the first one upc
code 658149734524 and added it as owned. Opened it and chose edit and tried to change the upc code to the one I have and hit apply showed until I closed the window. Went back to the movie and it shows the original barcode in the display and when I choose edit again it shows the original not the edited one I put in. Looks like once the window closes it reverts back to the one from the database.

As for the lock ups reproduced it with this sequence:

Added 5 titles as follows and locked up (used esc key to clear fields)

imaginary heroes - barcode obscured so used string search - added first one shown

used esc key to clear field and added
no man's land - no barcode so string search - added first (could be only one)

Switched to barcode search (mouse clicked on the tab don't know if there is a key to switch windows)
the prime gig - 065935140030 in upc search - blank so string search - added first one

Switched to barcode search (used esc key to clear field) added barcode below and hit enter
acceptance - 883476013305 and it found it and automatically added it to my owned.

hit esc key to clear field and entered upc below.
the new daughter - 057373211649 blank so string search added first one.

Went to add the next movie and since I had the barcode tried to switch back to the barcode search window and when switching from the string search window back to barcode it locked. As I was retracing my steps to write this out it did it in the same place again.

I could reproduce and fix this bug. Thank you very much for reporting it !

If you don't want to wait for the next update, you can replace your Coollector.exe with this one:

Please replace your Coollector.exe with this one:

and tell me if you still have problems.

I couldn't reproduce your bug with this version, so it looks like it was fixed by my recent changes.
