That's weird... I've done some testing but could not reproduce the problem. I don't know what's happening... Where did you download the program from ?

Since you just installed Coollector, I suggest that you uninstall it and download it again from
-> this link <-

I apologize for the trouble.

coolector has error when trying to start up

Fri Feb 22, 2008 9:39 pm

I have been using coolector for months now with minimal problems. I recently updated the program to 2.05 and since then cannot eben get it to start up. It crashes before it can load and if I reinstall it it loads 1 time and then will not load again. I am using Vista Ultimate.

Hi vjgraham !

I was recently informed that Coollector had problems with Vista.

Unfortunately, I won't have access to a Vista system until several weeks...

But if you're willing to help, we might fix your problem:

1) describe what files are inside \Program Files\Coollector\Database\ and what's their exact size.

2) describe \Program Files\Coollector\Coollections\ and file sizes.

3) are there .jpg files inside \Program Files\Coollector\Images\ ?

Now, click on "Compatibility files" like described -> here <- and describe the directories content again.

With all those informations, I should be able to understand why the program crashes.

Sorry for the inconveniance :(

coolector crashes on start up

First of all I want you to know how pleased I am with your program. Kudos to you and your skills.

Here is the info you asked for .

In data base
english.movies.dat 44182kb
english.movies.prices... 2029kb
indexing.dat 306kb

In coolections

Mycoolection 222kb

Images

Moviesdpt has subfolders

Items and persons

Both of these folders have subfolders and there are jpg's in the folders

As far as the compatibility files I cannot find any as described in your link.

I do have a dual boot system and can boot to xp professional if needed. Should I just install in inxp and boot to xp to use it. I really rarely boot to xp and would like to continue using it in Vista. Let me know if you can help.

Thanks again for a great program.

I'll most certainly understand what's going wrong when I'll see those 3 files.

There are several serious problems with Vista (during udates + printing results), and I'll fix them as soon as I'll have access to a Vista system. Unfortunately, it won't be until next month.

Even when you go to \Users\*YourAccountName*\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\Coollector\ ?

I finally got it to work. I just had to run the program each time as administrator and it works fine.

Thanks

Do you know than you can right click the coolector exe file, and select "run as administrator" ?
