For those who use this program and get error 5 when the coolector program tries to update, and it says you can not access the .exe the solution is simple. However annoying.

This has also seemed to help with the print problem i posted earlier.

Right click your coolector exe and select run as administrator. If this also fixes my print problem i posted earlier i will edit this to reflect it.

I'll google "run as administrator" to see if I can understand the issue.

Here is what I found:

"Program Data is a "virtualized" folder used by Vista so that programs and users running with normal rights can work around a security feature of Vista. Only full Administrator users can write to the Program Files folder, so any time a program or user with lesser rights wants to write to Program Files, that action is redirected to Program Data instead."

Unfortunately, I won't have access to a Vista system until several weeks, when I'll go visit my sister (she lives far).

Could you make some testings for me, please ?

1) when you print a criterion search result, please look at the "Program Data" folder to see if the file was created there.

2) Is the folder \Program Files\Coollector\Images\ empty ?

3) Is the folder \Program Data\Coollector\Images\ empty ?

Alright, now I'm beginning to have a clearer understanding of the situation...

Virtualization is there to allow XP programs to work, even though they don't behave as they should (write into the user directory / never write into the program files directory).

Virtualization worked so well that I really thought that Coollector was fully Vista compatible. How wrong...

When you try to print, Notepad opens an empty file, because it reads into "Program Files", but the file is in fact inside the virtual folder.

I need to transform Coollector into a well behaved Vista application. I will do this in 3 or 4 weeks, when I'll have access to a Vista system.
