Not recognizing all my video files...

Thu Dec 15, 2011 7:04 pm

Luv the program, but it's not recognizing all my movie video files...
I ran the Scan My Video Files and it recognized 500.
I selected Add all recognized files.
Unfortunately only 200 are appearing as owned.

Went through the process several times, but the problem continues.

Did I do something wrong or is this an application issue?

Please advise.
Thanks

I think you are confusing video files and movies.

The "owned" filtered search says "you own videos of xxx movies and series" and lists those xxx movies.

It doesn't say "you own xxx videos".

For example, if you scan 45 episode files of the series "Lost", this will only add the series "Lost". It looks like 1 addition, but if you look at the "owned videos" of the series "Lost", you'll find your 45 files.

Is it clear ?

Hi,

I have a similar problem. The app will scan my external hardisk but only recognizes about half of my movies. The remainder comes up with a message that it can't open the file. Then I have to click about 200 times for each file it can't read. The files are OK. I opened them with VLC.

This was exactly what I was looking for but if it only reads half the files its a bit of a deal breaker for me.

Anyone got any suggestions?

What's the exact message ? Does it happen for all the files from a same location ?

Until now, we've encountered 2 cases of files not recognized.

The first case was a Windows problem of hidden files:

And the second case was a Mac problem of samba vs. afp:

This is the error message that comes up when I scan for movies off my external hard disk.

Hello,

Thanks for replying. All files are stored on an external USB hard disk. It has 3 partitions. One partition has movies on it. The partition can be read by win7 and osx 10.6.8. It is partitioned as exfat.

I am not familiar with samba and afp so I had a quick look. Something to do with NAS. I don't think that involves external hard disks but if so I stand corrected.

I have included an screen shot of the error message that comes up. Once I clear this message, another comes up and so on until all the unreadable files have had their error message displayed.

Any ideas?

You're right. If it was a samba problem, Coollector wouldn't see the drive at all. There, it sees the folders, but can't open them.

Please right click a folder and select "Get Info" to see if it's locked or shared.
