The update website has not worked this week. Message: Temporarily Down.

Is it functioning for anybody?

The update server has always been up and running. The update works for me.

If others have problems, please report.

It always worked for me until I unchecked Automatically check for updates.

It doesn't work when I manually try to update.

Does it work when you set automatic update again ?

What Windows do you use ?

Personally, I have Windows XP, and it works with and without automatic update.

Using Windows XP SP3.

Most of the time it tries and fails but today it started to download but got and error and just quit.

I took a few screen shots to show you what was happening but I dont see any way to attach them.

I'm gonna try reinstalling and see what that does.

I have no clue what's happening. Installing again might be a good idea...

You have only problems with updates ? Downloading pictures works fine ?

You can send me screenshots here: hector at coollector dot com, but I don't think it can help me.

Reinstalled. No change.

I didn't uninstall. (same version)

I have 500+ movies in the database. Could that cause a problem?

That's ok.

I really doubt it. I will give it some thought. For the moment, I'm clueless :worried:

Thanks to jimt's fantastic feedback (via email), I've been able to localize the problem.

Here is an early version of Coollector 2.18 that fixes this bug and a few others.

Hi Hector,

Your Coollector on my comp has updated automatically to version 2.21. Now I have a message that I have the problem with internet connection. No way to auto/manual update. I reinstalled v. 2.18 (from your link) and again update worked w/o problem and installed automatically v.2.21. In this version the same - no way to update. Is it a bug? I saw that v.2.21 wanted to connect to IP 255.255.255.255. Any suggestion?

Hi Jukan,

since 2.18, I have modified Coollector to work even through a proxy server, and I thought everything was fine, but apparently there's something in your internet configuration that confuses the program.

To confirm this, please try this version of Coollector where I have disabled proxy detection:

http://www.coollector.com/Coollector.exe

If this version works, then I'll need your help to understand what's so special about your internet setttings, and adapt Coollector accordingly...

Hi Hector,

With the version from your link I immediately has got a message that everything is up to date, so it works. Actually, I use proxy. It is Naviscope sw. My proxy is 127.0.0.1:81.

I'm completely puzzled :o

Coollector works through your proxy without doing anything, and doesn't when using your proxy settings...

What about images ? They download fine with both versions ?

Well, with 2.22 I will remove proxy detection... until I understand things better.

Hector,

What I do not understand is that each time Collector connects with different IP:
1. www.merlin.com.pl
2. r10010.ovh.net
3. 255.255.255:81 v.2.21
4. www.update.microsoft.com
5. collector.info
6. collector.com
7. a1815.g.akamai
I have this info from ZoneAlarm log.[/img]

Thank you for your help.

Those ones are normal:
2. r10010.ovh.net (pictures server)
5. collector.info (updates server)
6. collector.com (website)

Since Naviscope is free, I'll make some testing when I'll find time.
