misscanning

Sat Feb 18, 2023 7:17 pm

Hi Hector

When I scanned my movie library, two of them were misscanned due to title mismatch. I mean the movie "101 Dalmatians" which is titled on IMDB as One Hundred and One Dalmatians (tt0055254)

the second one is "John Wick 3: Parabellum" which is missing the word "CHAPTER" as in IMDB John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum tt6146586, leading to misscanning.

best regards

Thank you very much for this report.

101 Dalmatians => with the next update I will add the aka "One Hundred and One Dalmatians"

John Wick 3 => I will modify the scanning engine to be smarter with the words "chapter" and "part".

Hi Hector

I tried to add a movie to my collection but it was not recognized because the title present in the database is different.

8 1/2 [Eight and a Half] (current title in database)

8½ (Original Title) according to IMDB

please, try to use the special character got by combining the ALT key plus 171 to solve the problem.

Thanks

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0056801/
tt0056801 8½ (1963)

The title search and the scanning algorithm recognize only the numbers and the characters. All the punctuation marks and the special characters such as "½", are just treated as spaces.

If you paste the value "8 ½" into the app, it'll be converted into "8 1 2" and it'll find the right movie.

The same happens if you scan a video file named "8 ½".

Please note that it doesn't work if it's "8½" (without space) and that's probably the issue you had.

I won't rename the movie, but I will modify the scanning algorithm to work even with "8½" (without space).

Hi Hector, good morning.

Just to report a misscanning issue with the movie:
Dune: Part 1 (2021) - in your Database

Dune (2021) - in my HDD and most Data Scrapers, but not Recognised by Coollector

That´s all. Thanks

You're right there's something wrong here, thank you for reporting.

Hi Hector.
This is me again to report more misscanning cases.

I noticed that some titles may differ from one Database to another. for example IMDB to TMDB, it may be solved by AKAs. All my files are named based on TMDB.

This is the first case, (the ones not found by Coollector)

TMDB: Monty Python's The Meaning of Life (1983)
IMDB: The Meaning of Life (1983)

TMDB: Star Wars The Force Awakens (2015)
Coollector: Star Wars Episode 7: The Force Awakens (2015)

The second case is even more strange, for some reason these movies are associated to wrong titles.

This movie:
TMDB: Lupin the Third The Castle of Cagliostro (1979)
Is associated to this title:
Coollector: Lupin III: The Mystery of Mamo [Lupin the 3rd: The Mystery of Mamo] [Lupin the Third: The Secret of Mamo] <Rupan sansei> (1978)

BUT the right one is this one:
Coollector: Lupin III: The Castle of Cagliostro [Lupin the 3rd: The Castle of Cagliostro] <Rupan sansei: Kariosutoro no shiro> (1979)

This movie:
TMDB: Nosferatu (1922)
Is associated to this one:
Coollector: Nosferatu (????)

BUT this is the right one:
Coollector: Nosferatu, a Symphony of Horror [Terror of Dracula] <Nosferatu, eine Symphonie des Grauens> (1922)

MORE wrong associations:

TMDB: Mercy (2015)
Coollector: Mercy for Angels (2015)

TMDB: Legend (1985)
Coollector: Godzilla [The Return of Godzilla] [Godzilla 1985: The Legend is Reborn] <Gojira> (1985)

This is it. Thanks

I suppose you mean this movie: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt2481496/reference

The IMDb has the year 2014. There's also a 2016 movie named Mercy. If you insist on the year 2015, Mercy for Angels is the best match.

There's nothing I can do, you have to either set the year to 2014 or to associate the file manually (by going to the right movie then clicking the "play" icon to select the file).

Hi Hector, you are right.
I hope you can mend the other cases.
Thanks

I'll add an aka for the meaning of life, and the others it's the algorithm I have to improve.

Thank you for your feedback!
