misscanning

Sat Feb 18, 2023 7:17 pm

Hi Hector

When I scanned my movie library, two of them were misscanned due to title mismatch. I mean the movie "101 Dalmatians" which is titled on IMDB as One Hundred and One Dalmatians (tt0055254)

the second one is "John Wick 3: Parabellum" which is missing the word "CHAPTER" as in IMDB John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum tt6146586, leading to misscanning.

best regards

Thank you very much for this report.

101 Dalmatians => with the next update I will add the aka "One Hundred and One Dalmatians"

John Wick 3 => I will modify the scanning engine to be smarter with the words "chapter" and "part".

Hi Hector

I tried to add a movie to my collection but it was not recognized because the title present in the database is different.

8 1/2 [Eight and a Half] (current title in database)

8½ (Original Title) according to IMDB

please, try to use the special character got by combining the ALT key plus 171 to solve the problem.

Thanks

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0056801/
tt0056801 8½ (1963)

The title search and the scanning algorithm recognize only the numbers and the characters. All the punctuation marks and the special characters such as "½", are just treated as spaces.

If you paste the value "8 ½" into the app, it'll be converted into "8 1 2" and it'll find the right movie.

The same happens if you scan a video file named "8 ½".

Please note that it doesn't work if it's "8½" (without space) and that's probably the issue you had.

I won't rename the movie, but I will modify the scanning algorithm to work even with "8½" (without space).

Hi Hector, good morning.

Just to report a misscanning issue with the movie:
Dune: Part 1 (2021) - in your Database

Dune (2021) - in my HDD and most Data Scrapers, but not Recognised by Coollector

That´s all. Thanks
