i never give a whole folder scan exactly to avoid unpredictable situations, i only scan movie-by-movie, it's slower but safer

There's only a risk if you try to rename something. You could safely scan your whole movie folder, if instead of fixing the wrong associations, you just mark them as "not recognized".

After that, you would add the problematic files with caution, one by one. In the process, you might be able to reproduce the bug.

Good news: I've identified a bug!

* I create a folder "Test2" containing the file "Robocop.avi"

* I click on the button "use folder name"

* I receive a message saying "sorry, can't recognize the name test2" (normal)

* I click on the button "rename the folder"

* I input the name "abyss"

* I get an error saying that rename didn't work (WRONG).

It's great that we have this bug fixed. :V:

I know it's not the bug we're looking for because it didn't damage the file, but I'll keep searching.

Here is the fixed version:

http://www.coollector.com/Coollector.exe

I haven't been able to reproduce the bug that can damage the files, but there are great chances that it was also fixed in the process.

Thank you very much for reporting this bug

I really don't think it's a language problem. Your English is quite correct and I have no problem to understand it. My problem is what you say, not how you say it :sorry:

You must remember that I don't have the power to read your mind, so you must be as accurate as possible when you describe something. I know it can be difficult sometimes. I have the same problem too ;)

Could you please try what I told you, that is scanning the entire folder (instead of scanning one file after the other), and click the button "not recognized" for each file which is associated to a wrong movie.

This way, you should be able to add a lot of movies very quickly.

And after that, adding the remaining files cautiously, one by one, will allow to check that there's no more bug.

If you see some files that are not correctly recognized and you think it's strange, you'll please give me the file paths and I'll look if it's a bug.

for testing purpose i can do that, but on my collection no. why? there are to many movies and i'm need to pay attention not just for unrecognized movie by title but also for release years of recognized titles, too many parameters to be kept in mind to let it scan through the whole folder for an accurate database and than identify correctly the skipped files.
sorry to telling that i don't trust enough the accurate database building capabilities of the program, but afterall is a great program; don't understand me wrong. I like it very much but; but as that the words say "don't put all your eggs in same basket", i don't wanna work twice for same purpose. I don't wanna risk to build again movie-by-movie my collection. building this way i'm sure is 100% accurate and the program itself are great.

regarding your note about "reading my mind", the way of how you think, few other remarks in other topics .... if i summarize them all, you seem too familiar to me, are you sure we don't know each-other? world can't be that big.

Then don't do it at all. I wanted you to do it because it makes me cringe when I imagine you adding your video files one by one. The purpose of the scanning feature is to add them quickly and conveniently. I don't understand what risk you could be taking if you look carefully at each suggested association and mark as "not recognized" the associations that seem wrong. And in the unlikely case something would go really wrong, you could still restore the last automatic backup.

Nevermind. You do whatever you want. It's your life, after all.

you are aware that working with humans are the most difficult task, don't you? we are all different ... (by look, behavior, habits ...everything). Even if i can understand your guideline, i will always do as i can or as i want everything. (sometimes only as i can because we have different skill levels...)

I wanted to help, but you're right I can't force you to do something that you don't want to do, even if it's for your own good.

renaming a folder is still bugged if you not find a working title from first try.

example: "The cider house rules".
i named it wrongly as "the cedar house rulles" than used rename folder to rename it "the cedar house rules" than used rename folder again into "the cider house rules" and return the error message following with program need to be closed.

continuous file renaming result lost (empty) files.
i have the movie Highlander: The Source 2007 which are not recognized by title, if you continuously renaming it (many tries) at some point you got the error message that file cannot be renamed and than you file will have 0 bytes length movie file (even file without any extension). (it happened accidentally at the third renaming and i was able to reproduce it, but at the 6-7th try) occurs most faster if you use symbols which are normally not accepted in (DOS type) filenames.

Indeed, it should be recognized. I will modify the scanning algorithm.

Indeed, I hadn't thought about that. I will take this case into account.

Once again, thank you very much!
