Hi Hector,

i have to leave the search result to find the location of the double files.
You show the movieposter and the name on the left and the location
of the new (double) file on the right.

Could you make the location of the movie "already in the database"
visible by mouse over ?

grtz

1) I think it would be a terribly weird behavior, one that would get the users confused.
2) the scanning engine doesn't check if a file is a duplicate or not. Checking for duplicate files is a completely disctinct task. You have to use the menu "Tools->Manage your video files->Check for duplicate files".

No,

When i think a movie has better quality i load it, then it goes in a folder
called doubles. I don't handle one double but maybe 20 or 30 at the time.

I know "find doubles" is there, i don't need to find them !
I need the location of the file that's already stored on NAS or external HDD.
Why.... Because i need to bring the double into the same location, check
if subs are okay, check which movie has better quality and then delete
one of them.

When i scan the folder doubles there are "say" 30 results, would be great
if i could also see the original location. I am not a collector that does 1 movie
a month....

The way you use the program is weird. I don't even understand what you're doing. The program has never been intended to work this way.

Now that the program has helped you to identify the doubles and isolate them in a folder, what's the interest of scanning that folder? Sorry, I don't understand...

When you were locating the duplicate files, the various files were listed in the "owned videos" box, and when you click a file there's a button to quickly jump to its location. You can easily get to the 2 files and decide which one must be deleted, no need to create a folder "doubles". After having deleted some files, you just have to use the menu "Tools->Manage your video files->Find associations with missing files". This is how the program is supposed to work. What's the point of this "doubles" folder, and especially what's the point of scanning it?

Sorry, could be that i don't understand what you mean, or the other way around ?

I don't need to locate them, i now where there are, all of them.

Nothing is listed because the "scan results" window is still open and using coollector is not possible.

When i get or load a new movie it goes in f.e. "Downloads", then i scan and correct wrong names etc.
When everything is oke i move them to theire end locations. (The NEW movies are then out of the
folder downloads, doubles also are left behind in what i then call "folder doubles", actually its still
folder downloads.....But if its easyer to understand i could also have moved the doubles to a folder
called "doubles"

No,.... i can't, because i have to move them to those folders first, therefore my request.

What's the point of keeping the duplicate files in a dedicated folder? As soon as you identify the duplicate files, you delete them and you're done, end of the story. You complicate things for no reason.

You can do weird things if you want, but don't ask me to adapt the program to the weird things you do ;)

The program helps you to locate the duplicate files so you can delete them. If you put all the duplicates inside a folder and scan that folder, I don't understand what you expect to happen...

I am not keeping duplicates in a dedicated folder, they are in there after downloading !
I am not identifying them either.
I delete one of them, when i compared it with the the movie already owned and is in some folder on
disk... and i like to know on wich disk so i can move the duplicate there to compare them.
Again you tell me the program helps to locate the duplicates, i know where they are, i dont know
where the movie is that i want to compare it with.... I'm sorry but at the moment the only weird
thing is that you dont understand me !
No weird addon to the program, a usefull addon that makes live easyer when working with lots
of movies.

I have 20 or 30 doubles every 2 a 3 weeks, replacing old .avi to .mkv
together with the new movies, renaming, checking, searching for posters etc.
this is a lot of work. and finding the location of the original file already at the right location
would be a real usefull addon.

Basically you're looking for the location of a video file already added to Coollector. The scanning window is certainly not the right place for that. You just have to search the movie in Coollector, click to view the details of the video file, and then click the "folder" icon to jump to the file location.
