Hey, I have a little problem with the database on my Mac.
When I’m opening my database, from my win10 pc, from a place in a cloud or an external hard drive, I just click on it and it loads. If I do the same thing on my mac it just opens the default empty database.

I know, I’m new to the program, but this was a feature that I was looking forward in the program. So my question now is, is this a bug or can my mac simply don’t to the thing I want?
Is there no way to say, hey look in this folder for the database?

Thanks in advance.

It's supposed to work on Mac too. I don't have my Mac near me right now, but I'll make the test as soon as possible.

I just made the test and it worked fine. You must be doing something wrong. I would say you're not opening the right database, but it's surprising as you say you do it fine on Windows.

Here's the test that I made:

1) I copied my coollection file (.cool file) to the desktop.
2) on the desktop I right-clicked it and chose to open it with Coollector Movie Database.app.

The program opened correctly showing all my data.

I haven't tried with a network drive. Please make this test on the desktop and we'll decide what to do next.

What's the size of the .cool file you're using? Maybe it's an empty coollection because you're not taking the coollection from the right location.

To know for sure the location of the coollection, you can run Coollector and select the menu "Help->locate my coollection file".

Hey,

I copied the database on the desktop and started it with the method you described and nothing. Just the default empty database. I copied the database from my desktop over the default one and started the database. Every movie was there instantly and the file I used is 57kb.

I also uninstalled and downloaded the program again. It is still happening.

Any suggestion, what I can do next?

I'm as confused as you, but I can try making some suggestions...

1) check that you've well replaced the default database. For that, rename it into "MyCoollection.cool.bak" and launch Coollector again. A brand new database should be created to replace it.

2) search you computer to see if you have several versions of Coollector in several places. It could explain the strange things we observe.

To point 1) I did what you said and it created a new file.

2) I uninstalled and cleaned the mac from all the data and installed it again

3) I also renamed the default one to .bak, like in point one and started my database. A new database was created also.

It seems to me that coollector always opens only the file in the default folder.

Not really, because when you've opened the coollection on the desktop it seemed empty even though the default coollection wasn't empty.

Here's another test: open once again the coollection on the destop, then select the menu "Help->Locate the coollection file". Does it point to the desktop location?

What version of Mac OS do you have? Is your version of Coollector from the Mac App Store?

Started the database from the desktop, selected "Locate the coollection file" and it showed me the default folder, with the empty database.

I use MacOS Sierra 10.12.5 .
I tried the one from the App Store (4.9.7) and from the this site (4.9.8). Both have the same problem.

I've installed Sierra and it's still working.

I'm sorry to say that I'm running out of ideas :worried:
