The file paths start with a network syntax (\\QSKINNAS\) instead of a drive letter syntax (E:\\).

I think I may have finally found the solution to our problem...

We're sure that a different drive letter means a different drive, but you've teached me that on the contrary a network address can correspond to several drives.

Hence I should treat the network addresses differently, looking beyond \\QSKINNAS\ and considering \\QSKINNAS\HDD_1 and \\QSKINNAS\HDD_2 as two different drives.

Tomorrow I'll have a new version for you to test ;)

I never asked you to scan the entire drive. It's just when you select the folder to scan that you used to click on "network" and select "QSKINNAS" instead of clicking on "This PC" and select the drive from his letter.

For example, on your screenshot we can see that the path to "Films7" can either be "\\QSKINNAS\HDD_7\Films7" or "E:\\Films7". You used to select the first instead of the second...

Nevermind, as you can see from my message above, you probably won't have to change anything to your habits after I've improved Coollector.

Here's the new Coollector.exe:

There's also a small "bug"

See the screenshot :

The files are on disk, the search says there not !!

P.S.
Not all, only those 5 movies on Films 7

The new version also fixes a bug that I've discovered. Please check again as I think it was related with your problem.

I'm not sure if the bug is fixed.

See the screenshot, i connected 3 drives to the NAS and movies 1 to 6
are on the NAS in Films. The 230 missing files are on hdd_10 thats not connected
to the NAS during the scan
However, i cannot see in the scanresult window it is "Films 10", i just know it !!

As you see E: is not in my directory tree

Also the scanresult window shows "Films (6 missing), are those the same 6 movies on
drive 7 that i showed you yesterday...... I don't know because the result window doesn't
show the drivename

If you could make coollector show the "drivename" somehow ?

From your screenshot, I can see that the program distinguishes "\\QSKINNAS\Films" as a drive, not just "\\QSKINNAS".

Select this drive only and you'll see which files it is

It's probably the same 6 files, so it wasn't related with the bug that I've fixed.

Have you checked the file names? Are you certain that the file names haven't changed at all, even slightly?

That's why the files are reported as missing. Your database contains 29 files located on E: but E: is not connected.

Coollector doesn't know the drive name. The only path it knows starts with "\\QSKINNAS"

E: Is connected, it's not shown on My PC, it's not shown on NAS
i don't know why its called E:...... The other 2 ext.drives do not have a
driveletter assigned. Also one drive attached to NAS (not showen) is
called USBDrive 2
I think this is how the NAS works... not sure about that.

Films 7, you say disconnect this drive and you'll know. That's not how
finding missing files should work i think ?

Large amounts of movies are on NAS etc.
I think the drivename is essential for knowing where to find a movie
but i also think people who use a NAS and external drives do not connect
ALL external drives all the time..

Is it an option to let Coollector scan a specific drive only and not ALL disks ?

That why you can deselect the drives that you know are not connected. It's for that I have modified Coollector to distinguish "\\QSKINNAS\Films" from "\\QSKINNAS\HDD_1".

Yes, selecting which drives you want to inspect doesn't mean the program will remove all the missing files. There's another screen where you select which files you want to delete. The program asks you to select the drives only when there's more than 1 drive with missing files.

Problem solved,...

The path to the correct drive is shown when klicking the OK button on
the searchresult window !!!

Now the correct path becomes visible and deleting the wrong files should belong to the past ;-)

thnx
