Please let me know what changes I need to make in order to get the app up and running.

I've modified the app to fix the update problem, please download it again:

https://www.coollector.com/Coollector_Movie_Database.zip

Thank you very much for your feedback and your patience!

Please tell me if the system refuses to run it. The app is "developper signed" so Gatekeeper is supposed to let it run, but maybe Apple has changed the rules. Please let me know if it's the case.

Do I just double-click on the new app, or paste it into the Applications folder and replace what's there?

Yes, it's better if you put it inside the Applications folder. When you'll run it, you'll probably get a warning or an error message. Maybe you'll have to adjust your security settings to let it run.

I've discovered that Apple has introduced a new rule:

https://www.macrumors.com/2018/10/19/apple-mac-app-notarization-reminder/

I had vaguely heard about it a few months ago, but I've unfortunately forgotten since then. Tomorrow I will look into it to have my app notarized so the installation has less friction.

Sorry, but I get the same message - the app can't be opened. I check in System Preferences - Security/Privacy and there's no option to let me install Coollector.

I found this:

I think you have to right-click the app. Sorry I can't test as I didn't get the message.

That's doesn't work in Mojave. I also changed the permission in Privacy/Accessibility, and that didn't work.

Question -- is Coollector a 32 or 64 bit app?

It's 64 bits, as imposed by Apple some time ago...

Working with Apple can be such a PITA :wacko:

I'm about to go to bed. I'll make some more research tomorrow. Sorry for all your troubles.

Instead of "Privacy/Accessibility", you must check that "Security & Privacy" is set to "Allow apps downloaded from App Store and identified developpers".

The app is 64 bit and signed by me, an identified developer, it should work. You can verify that the app is 64 bit and signed using this method "How to Find and View All 32-Bit Apps on a Mac":

http://osxdaily.com/2018/03/06/find-32-bit-apps-mac/

On my computer, after downloading the app, it says:
64-bit => yes
Obtained from => Identified Developer

The first time I launch the app, I get a warning that it was downloaded from the internet, and that's all.
