The two attached png's should be self-explanatory.

I ran the tester.exe. The grids on the left panel are aligned. I ran update. After prices downloaded ok, Norton auto-protect kicked in and quarantined updater.exe.

Whatever tester was supposed to do never got to that point.

I followed up on the first try with a second try at update.

While prices were showing already ok, the other database started and restarted at about the size of the prices download. Just before the restart, updater had triggered Norton auto-protect. Nevertheless, the download continued until complete and the message appeared. Now the updater stayed unactivated.

Okay ran the Coolector_Test.exe file. Vista asked for permission and I gave it. It then ran coolector and updated the prices and downloaded the updater program.

Got the message to close to update and then the info window you inserted came up.

-----------------------------------------------------
Here is the command that will be executed

wxExecute("C:\Users\Owner\D...\CoollectorUpdater.exe"/D="C:\Users\Owner\Documents\")
-----------------------------------------------------

Because the info window truncated the file path name I can't be sure it went to the proper directory to try and run the updater. All I can say is that it didn't appear to run as the program is still showing 3.04

Yes, I have discovered why they were misaligned. It's because you are using 125% bigger fonts. Also, the lines of the movie description should be ok now. During the next weeks, I'll keep improving how the program works with bigger fonts.

That's strange, it didn't do that the other time. The only problem we had until now was that the updater wasn't executed.

The info window isn't supposed to truncate anything.

I think that the file path was truncated by something else, and that it's the origin of all our problems.

I'll make another test program to confirm this theory.

Gigagiggles and Jhereg, thank you very much !

Here is another test program:

http://www.coollector.com/Coollector_Test2.exe

You don't have anything special to do, it will display a message right from the start.

What's that message ?

Okay ran the test 2. Hopefully I've inserted the picture of the screen cap correctly. No joy on the update. Downloaded price info and updater program, Got shut down message and when shut down that's it. Updater didn't run.

I think I have fixed the problem, but I'd appreciate your confirmation:

http://www.coollector.com/Coollector_Test3.exe

Does it update ? Does Norton interfere ?

No joy. Same behavior as before. Goes fine all the way to the shut down and run updater stage and then doesn't run the updater after shut down. No antivirus software running to interfere.

Doncha just love a puzzle ;-)

Test2 never got past Norton.

Test3 passed the Norton sentry but the updater failed to activate.

Same as test3.

I'm glad I have the bandwidth to do this. :-)

Thank you for your collaboration.

For this test, you won't need bandwidth, as I'm only interested in the message it will display on startup:

When I click OK, the Coollector program opens up.
