Hi there! Is it just 'me' ?? When i scan my video files, I can click away with 'not recognised' etc, until i get to about S..and then i get a message that "coollector has encountered an error and will close down'. I've tried a few times now!! I use notice that with the thumbnails on the left that you use to recognise or not recognise, the words of the movies go over the lines beyond the thumbnails. I hope i am explaining clearly enough for you!! Noone else has reported this recent error since last upgrade, so maybe it's just 'me'!!
Hoping you can help!!!!
Thank you so much and have a great day

Yes, I'm sorry, it's a bug that I have introduced with the latest version, and that I have fixed now. The fix will be available on Wednesday with the release of version 3.22.8.

This bug I don't know, but it's a good thing that you can reproduce it.

What's the shortest way to make the program crash ? Is it enough to scroll to the letter 'S' ? Or do you have to click on something ? If it seems that displaying a certain movie makes the program crash, what's that movie ?

Please make some experiments and give me your observations.

It often happens around "The Shore Leave" (or some such title from my list) BUT not always. I tried just clicking 'not recognised' several times and got through to the end of the list that way without a crash happening. BUT if i do click 'recognise' a few times, then start clicking 'not recognise' several times....it crashes. It takes time to crash...several clicks of 'not recognise' (slowly or quickly). Oh sorry, i bet that didn't help you at all :worried: :worried:

I've done nothing else to my computer, and this issue only cropped up with last upgrade...but perhaps i've confused it with my list of files...who knows!!!

Anyway, knowing you....and your awesome work... !! i have every confidence it's just a very temporary little glitch that will disappear with next upgrade.

TA!!

I don't understand. There isn't any "recognized" button.

I have no doubt that there's a bug, but I have to understand what's happening.

I will need your help. I will prepare you a debug version that will generate a log when the program crashes.

Please download this debug version:

http://www.coollector.com/Coollector_Debug.exe

and make it crash. When crashing, it will create 2 files.

Please email me those 2 files at this address: hector at coollector dot com

argggh!!! Would you believe I ran your debug program and proceeded to scan my video files and it worked properly the whole way through!!!!! What the ??!!

I'm sorry about my description of 'recognised' i meant i scrolled up the list and didn't click 'not recognised' beside that thumbnail meaning that, as usual, it would be recorded as 'recognised'. Sorry to add to your confusion.

So....does this mean my normal coollector movie database has updated and proceed as usual.
To avoid all doubt, i will close and run as normally and see what happens.

I ran it as normally, and it crashed again. I have saved the files and will email to you. I hope this may help. I think it MUST be my computer!! It does crash at the same spot though.......

What version crashed ? The debug version ? If it's not the debug version, I'm afraid the crash dump won't contain enough information.

I doubt it's your computer. Most likely a bug with Coollector. I've fixed several bugs during the past days, and that might explain why the debug version didn't crash, even though I don't know exactly what bug I have fixed that was related to your problem.

Please replace your current Coollector.exe with this one:

http://www.coollector.com/Coollector.exe

and tell me if you can make it crash.

Thank you very much !

yay :D :D :D :D
You ARE awesome. I downloaded that last link and i couldn't make it crash....you've inadvertently fixed the issue while de-bugging other things. I'm convinced it had something to do with the words overwrapping beyond the boundaries of the thumbnails in the earlier version (i noted that your de-bug version, which couldn't crash either also had resolved this issue).....so,

fingers and toes crossed, i think the little gremlin has disappeared :excited:

Again, thank you so very much for your help and for your super responsiveness to everyone's 'issues'

Cheerio

We'll never know, but it's very likely.
