I think that would be god idea to ad option exclude genre and exclude country. When i'm searching tv shows, too much of japanese anime stuff is listed, and i'm not interested into that.

I had never thought about that before. I will consider your suggestion.

My main issue is how to elegantly modify the interface to make it possible. Do you have a suggestion ?

Thanks for the suggestion, but I'm afraid I don't like it.

Let's be clear, I consider that the "option to exclude genre and exclude country" is interesting, but not essential. It's not worth such a complexification of the interface.

And it's not only the interface that would become more complex. With 100,000 movies to handle, I've had to highly optimize each and every possible search. I'd have to do that again for all those new searches. A colossal amount of work that I would only do for something VERY useful.

I'm all outta ideas then, unless you're gonna allow adding two more filters:

Excluded Genre & Excluded Country

edit: I prefer how this approach looks, but it would mean adding even more filters :(

I don't have any good idea either. I'll keep thinking about it, but this feature will most probably never happen. In my point of view, it's better to renounce to small improvements like this, rather than turning the program into a mess.

We already have the most powerful search of all the programs that I know. And there are several search improvements coming soon, because they integrate easily with the current interface:

1) location filter that works with the video files location (next version).

2) year range (soon after).

3) cast filter (I don't know exactly when, but it's sooner than later).

1) and 2) have been implemented.

3) will come much later.

can you add to the status filter a "not owned" please it would help make a faster search for movies that I don't have, and there is another thing it would probably be a hassle but if you can that would be very helpful, make the posters, thumbnails or pics to be stored optionally for the user to decide so that he can access them offline.

thanks for reading.

your program is the best. keep the good work.

Coollector stores all images you see in public documents (or in the coollector folder if your using coollector portable) as you browse the database. You can also download all the movie posters at http://www.coollector.com/images.html#top if you want them all instead of just those you encounter while browsing . Does that answer your question?

You'll have to wait for Hector to log in and answer that one...

At a glance you can tell if you own a movie or not, because the movies you own have their title highlighted. Isn't it enough? I can't imagine a scenario where a "not owned" filter would be really useful.

When you're online, the pictures that Coollector downloads are saved on your computer disk. And when you're offline, you can still see the pictures that have previously been downloaded. As Kakashi said, you can even download all the movie pictures as a zip file.

What filters do you use? Do you just list the movies by IMDb popularity?
