Please tell me what happens if you replace your current movie database with the one inside this zip:

http://www.coollector.com/english.movies.dat.zip

First, you have to close Coollector. Then, locate and replace your current movie database. It should be

"C:\Users\Public\Documents\Coollector\Databases\english.movies.dat".

Thank you very much !

now the title can be displayed, but contains strange characters. (see screeshot attached)
sometimes there are names (movie titel or person) containing similar strange characters. previous versions also has this problem. I guess this is because of the compatibility with my OS.

Thank you. What I really need to know is if the title "Chôsei kantai seizâ X" is now fine inside the grid when you search for the string "x-". It's currently the only place where I've made all the necessary corrections. If that works there, then I can make it work everywhere.

It's a unicode problem. I was convinced that the program worked fine on unicode systems like yours, but you made me realize that I was wrong. Anyway, I should be able to make it work for good

If you replace your Coollector.exe with the one inside this zip:

http://www.coollector.com/Coollector_Fix3.zip

then your previous screenshot should now be fine, isn't it ?

The database that I have sent you fixed the movie titles, but not the person names, nor the original movie titles (the titles inside <>)..

Wonderful :w00t:

I needed your confirmation before I start modifying all the other parts that need to be modified.

You've been tremendously helpful. I'll be happy to give you some more free licenses for your friends. You just have to send me a mail with their email addresses :D

I'm afraid it won't be very soon. Probably more than 6 months...

another problem: (just occasionally) when I associate a new video file to the movie, after select the file on hard disk, an error window pop-up (wxWidgets debug alert). I select 'cancel' and close the pop-up window. Then it is fine and I can go on to add the file. See attached screenshot. In this case, i am adding a file to movie 'Next'.

What's the exact name and path of the file ?

Exactly at what moment do you get that message ?

Just give you an example:
I tried to associate a new video file to move 'Next' (Nicolas Cage). The file path I choose is
G:\Next.2007\next-dts.mkv
I choose the file and click 'open'. Then the error message pop up.(as previously attached). I click 'cancel' to close the pop up window and then coollector can proceed to add this file. (In other words, the program still works well).
However, I cannot repeat the error. If I remove this file and try again to associate the same video to same movie, there is no pop up error message. So strange.

I do not yet see the pattern behind this error. I will let you know if I find out the pattern.

The good thing is that even with this error message, the software still works well if you just ingore the error message and click 'cancel'.

I took a close look at my code, and indeed I could find a problem that might explain the error message.

Please replace your Coollector.exe with the one inside this zip:

http://www.coollector.com/Coollector_Fix4.zip

And you'll tell me if you see the error message again.

Thank you very much !

This afternoon I tried to scan and add a few video files and so far the pattern seems to be like below.

The first time I open coollector and scan a folder for video files, the error message pops up. I click cancel to ignore and the movie file can be added. Then I go to to search other folders and no more error message pops up.
However, if I exit coollector and open it again, the error message pops up when I scan a folder. It has nothing to do with the folder name or video file name. The error just happens at the first time I scan a video file.

Hope this helps.

What you describe is normal. By clicking the "cancel" button, you asked the program to not show the error message again, even if the error happened again.

It's great that you can reproduce the bug. I will give it some thinking, then I'll go back to you. Thank you very much !
