If you list the movies by IMDb popularity (the order button is at the bottom of the list), you roughly get the IMDb top 250. Except that it goes well beyond 250 and you can apply filters! ![]() |

yes , but that is not true in coollector with your setting (you tell me in the post) top ten is: 1) The Shawshank Redemption (1994) 2) Batman 2: The Dark Knight (2008) 3) Inception (2010) 4) Fight Club (1999) 5) Pulp Fiction (1994) 6) Forrest Gump (1994) 7) The Lord of the Rings 1: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001) ![]() 9) The Matrix (1999) 10) The Godfather (1972) in IMDB top 10 is : 01 – The Shawshank Redemption 1994 02 – The GodFather 1972 03 – The GodFather II 1974 04 – The Dark Knight 2008 05 – Schindler’s List 1993 06 – 12Angry Men 1957 07 – Pulp Fiction 1994 08 – The Lord of the Rings: Part III 2003 09 – The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (1966) 10 – Fight Club 1999 for example movie number 6 in IMDB (12Angry Men 1957) , in coollector is number 148 after select IMDb popularity please put one special buttom or filter with that, like "imdb top 250" |

There are some differences, but most of the time they are minors. You take 12 Angry men as an example of the contrary, but when you think of it, this movie is probably the biggest anomaly of the top 250. When you consider that only a minority of persons watch old movies, I doubt that it's a number 6. Personally I watch old movies, I've watched this one, and I'm very surprised that it's so highly ranked. salat_1364 wrote: please put one special buttom or filter with that, like "imdb top 250" I'm sorry, I won't do that. That doesn't fit with our interface. Even if it did, I consider the IMDb top 250 as a gimmick and I think our system is better or at least as good. |

It's like the IMDb top 250 is particularly biased toward old movies... Those kind of rankings are not absolute science. You seem to have a religion for the IMDb top 250. I don't. If the IMDb slightly changes their ranking formula, you'll get a slightly different top 250. |

In the end, what's the value of those rankings? They're just averages of all the ratings of all the IMDb users. But each person has its own taste. So what does an average mean to an individual? Not much, I'm afraid. Sometimes it's an indicator, but more often than not it's flawed. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0050083/ratings?ref_=tt_ov_rt As you can see, 6,500 persons (1.5% of 429,698) have given 12 Angry Men the worst note. 12.1% have rated it 7 or less. And you tell all those persons that it's the 6th best movie of all time?! If you want to know what movie you should watch, you need a ranking that is personalized to your own special taste. In my opinion, the predicted rating given by Coollector is a much better help. I've worked hard on the prediction algorithm and I think it's the biggest added value of my program. Not a gimmick like the IMDb top 250... |

Below the movie title, next to the rating icons, there's "no tag" written in green. If you click on it, you'll be able to tag the movie with any word(s) you want. Of course, there's a filter to find movies by tag. Regarding the top 250, I'm not convinced that tagging the movies is a good solution. It's a half-good solution because "Top 26" for example would be displayed next to the title of the 26th movie. But the tag filter would list only one movie at a time and you could not get the whole list. At least you'll have learned about the tagging feature ![]() |
