Hi Hector, is there a possibility to exclude files from scanning ? I do have some movies (nature, imax etc.) that are not recognized or in 3D. Those movies are found each time, i "for some reason" need to scan this drive again. Would be nice when checking the scan results, if i could choose from next options : Not recognized / Use Filename / Rename Folder / Exclude from scanning Those movies don't need to be in the database, but do need to be on this HDD. It's very easy to exclude files from scanning. You just put them in a folder that isn't scanned... Why complicate things? |

Because i always scan a complete drive and all folders in it. But its no big deal, its only one drive. Thought it could be a usefull addon to the program. |

Skinamp wrote: Because i always scan a complete drive and all folders in it. During our last discussion, I've had a glimpse at your file structure... It's very easy for you to create a folder "Excluded" next to your current folder "Films", and to scan only the folder "Films". Why you don't do that? Skinamp wrote: Thought it could be a usefull addon to the program. Your suggestion would make the interface unnecessarily complex. It would require to store into your coollection file the path of all the excluded files, making the coollection file unnecessarily bigger. During file scanning, the program would have to check each file to know if it's in the exclusion list or not, making file scanning slower. Unnecessarily complex, unnecessarily bigger, unnecessarily slower... Having a separate folder is the obvious solution to this problem. |

I agree. The folder Films is on the nas, the movies i Talk about are not jet in the database. They are on separate hdd. Not scanned Till now. I think i'll exclude the drive, there are to many movies on it that are not recognized. Or I'll separate them from the rest. like you suggested. Grtz |

It would still be useful depending on the directory structure ! On the NAS in the folder "Films" are 6 or more subdirectory's, all directory's on a lower level are attached drives to the network. If a want to have all my movies in the folder "Films" then also the folder with movies that i don't want to be scanned are in there. Now i have to scan Films 1 then Films 2 and so on. Moving the "do not scan this folder" to a different location during scanning and back again, would take a long time. Now the movies i do not want to be scanned are on a separate drive, still like to have them in one location on the nas.

Of course the folder that you don't want to scan shouldn't be inside the folder "Films". It should be next to it. For example, you could name it "Films (not scanned)" \\QSKINNAS\Films \\QSKINNAS\Films (not scanned) This solution is so simple, I don't understand why you don't like it and insist on complicating things. You're the first user to request a change. I suppose that the other users have naturally adopted the obvious solution. |

i do not insist,... Why do i rather have those folders together ? It's easy, on NAS copying folders on the same attached drive from one folder to another, copying one file from folder to another folder is lightning fast ! Copying from attached network drive "Films" to an other attached network drive "Films exclude" takes much longer. But, as i already told..... if it's to much. let it be ! Live goes on |

Skinamp wrote: Copying from attached network drive "Films" to an other attached network drive "Films exclude" takes much longer. Apparently I did not understand your file structure. From what you say, "Films" is a drive instead of a folder. Ok, then the drive "Films" should have a folder for the scanned films and another one for the not scanned films. That implies that the location of your scanned files will slightly change, but that's quick and easy to fix with the menu "Tools->Manage your video files->Batch edit several file associations". No, somehow i'm unable to explain the structure. This is not the way i like it, it's The way The NAS works. But its oké. I'll Leave it the way it is now. I can always make : QSkinnas/Films/Films/Films 1 to 6 QSkinnas/Films/Exclude Beter would be : QSkinnas/Films/Films 1 to 7 Where 7 is the folder to exclude All movies are in one main directory this way. P. S. The first Films is a network drive and Not an folder. |
