To get the latest movie database of Coollector, we need to re-download the whole program or we need to download the whole database from the in-app option. So, I was wondering that if the Coollector user wants to update their database then only the new information (Movie, Persons etc) will be download. And so it will cost only a small amount of bandwidth. Note: I read in somewhere in the forum that you will be introducing this feature in v5.0 but still waiting for this feature.

Ok, now I understand. It's called "incremental updates" and I'm indeed working on it. When it's ready, it'll be the signal to move on to version 5. It's taking more time than I anticipated because it happens to be much more complex than I expected. The database used to change a lot from one version to another, and in the end incremental updates didn't provide a significant benefit. I've had to completely change the way the database is constructed in order to make it more "recyclable". By doing so, I've unfortunately introduced a few bugs as you could see in the recent updates. Everything seems to be fine now, and I expect the database to be between 90% and 95% recyclable, which is an even better result than I hoped. I'm finalizing all this, it's very touchy, I must be cautious, I can't rush it. |
