So as you can see fresh start!

Scan failed 60 movies, maybe, cause of spelling errors.

Then the mixed up associations, there are bit, I will have to go through them all.

http://www.pogodeamon.com/failed.txt

I will look through and check the associations.

Please wait a little.

I'm working on the new scanning feature right now.

I'll send you a version tonight or tomorrow.

It's better if you do the test with that version, as I'm making the algorithm smarter (=> less errors) and also as it displays the associations made (=> easier for you to check).

Ok that sounds good I will deleted what I have and wait for you. I think alot of my problem is that the spelling of the titles might not be exactly what the movie title is.

Thank you for listening though.

GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE!

Here's the new exe:

http://www.coollector.com/Coollector_Scan.exe

1) you can choose between "Scan preview" or "Real scan".
2) the association algorithm got smarter and should produce less errors.
3) the report now shows which file was associated to which movie.

No problem, there's no hurry. Thanks!

Others can also try it and report if they find things that could be improved.

I know some of my titles may have typos in them or just not correctly named.

I did like the feature, asking for a report first.
However!

Imagine I ran the scan, it associated all the files, 3 months later I want to scan again to add those newer movies. It is going to again mix up those associations. I will have to redo them all.

That is why I was thinking a "(A)dd or (S)kip".

I do have a smaller problem. My Portable HD is an exact copy of my MOVIE DRIVE. At home the portable HD is known as drive "G:" when I bring it to work it is known as drive "J:". Of course I went into disk management and reassigned drive letters, but I don't think this is something novice users should do.
Is there a way you could do "CurDir" (current directory) or (current drive)?

Unfortunately, I don't know how to do that. The program needs to know the complete path of the files to launch them.

The only solution I can think of is using CONTROL + L (batch edit location fields) to replace "G:" by "J:" in all the location fields.

Oh, yes. Another solution would be to scan the files from the 2 computers. You would have each file twice. One with "G:" and the other with "J:" and you would choose which file to play depending on which computer you are.

I think this solution is less elegant than the first one.

By renaming the files properly, you can make the association work properly.

You'll still have problems with the movies that are not in our database (like home videos), that's why you should isolate those in a folder that's never scanned.

P.S: the scan ignores the files that are already associated. So, if you've made an association manually, there's no risk it be messed up.

Please don't think I am tryng to pick you or your program apart.

I am just looking at little minor things that could maybe help some new users.

PS: Do you take donations?

I think we have reached a very satisfactory solution. Frankly, I don't see the need to make things more complex.

No, but that's very nice of you to think about it.

The only option is going to Amazon.com or CDuniverse.com using a link in our program, and we'll get a commission on everything you'll buy there.
