I've especially had my share of troubles those last weeks. Gosh, that was a very bad period, but thankfully the current version is pretty stable, at last.

Yup coollector worked right throughout. The prob. is that my app has stopped writing to the file altogether. Its probably a pretty simple thing like a deleted line.

What I really wanted was to rename all my drive letters in MyCoollection.cool to %THISDRIVE% eg.

%THISDRIVE%:\MOVIES series\ANIMATION\BOONDOCKS\file.avi

It would work if coollector understood to read %THISDRIVE% as the current drive coollector.exe is running from.

I found the problem. My program stops scanning before it reaches the end of the file because of a character in the .cool file. It stops scanning every time it reaches ASCII 26. I got rid of that character in the file and my program worked flawlessly. :D

(coollector however cant read the file with that character missing\replaced.)

Hi,..

I wrote about File location here :
http://www.coollector.com/viewtopic.php?p=3452#p3452

and Hector told me about the control + L option,...
The problem for me that remains is, that when attatching a portable drive now and then
the driveletter chances from K to L "or something like that", ALL the movies on the HDD
are added to the database by scanning, not only the new movies !!

Because i do not understand the technical talk from kakashi and you in this topic i have
next question : Should the launcher also help me getting lost of this problem ?

grtz

I had never thought about that. I will fix this problem with the next program update. Thank you very much !

Nope, it's unrelated.

I had a similar problem because all my series are on an external hard drive. Mine usually switches letters too. My launcher could switch the address of all your movies to drive L for you but it would switch every movie in your cool file. (It can only be used if all movies in your .cool file are on the same external hard drive)

I think that Skinamp's suggestion (http://www.coollector.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=231&start=30) could solve this and quite a few other problems. It would also make my launcher obsolete if users had the option of using HDD1:\ instead of C:\ if they felt like. I think it is possible for Coollector work both ways. (I noticed a simple way while designing my launcher)

The driveletters may change but the name (eg. HDD1 would always be the same)

I think your idea could make Coollector the master of external hard drives. :V:

In a few hours, I will release a new version of Coollector, that can detect when the drive letter has changed.

You can test it without waiting (and tell me if there's still any problem) by replacing your current Coollector.exe with this one:

Amazing! Coollector changes the paths every time I make a drive change. This Is something unheard of. I've tried changing drive letters multiple time in different situations but I cant seem to shake it

I can almost see the cross on my hdd. :w00t:

Thank you very much for testing !

In fact, it's a very simple solution. It took me only a few minutes to code it. If I had realized it was so simple, I would have done it sooner.

That's what I was trying to tell you, if an out of practice youngster like me could get it done in my launcher (without access to Coollector's process) then a seasoned programmer like you could do a much better job. Skinamp finally got his wish (Works a bit differently but gets the same job done).

Yes, thank you very much !

But we needed to find the good idea, and using the drive name wasn't technically possible. This solution is even simpler, and works for everyone, transparently.
