Being able to send multiple files at once to the media player's playlist would also be cool. Especially when watching series.

Yes, I know. I need to make some research on playlists, because I don't know if there's a universal format for playlists. If that's the case, then Coollector could generate a universal playlist, and that playlist would be opened by your default media player.

by the way, how's β

Tomorrow, or maybe the day after, I'll give you access to Coollector 3 beta 1.

Hi Kakasi,.

Have you thought of investing in a raid array? (or maybe a USB hub would help?).

I buy a cheap HDD now and then, when i had more live would be easier.
Unfortunately we must buy some food now and then,..

usb-hub, my workspace is very small and can´t place all HDD´s on my desk, i store the
HDD´s rather at the television where the MM-Hd is and connect only the one i´m working
on to the computer.

I know it would be hard on you but I'd have to agree with Hector on this one (I rarely do). You must understand that depending on the structure of coollector it could take quite some time to add this feature.

I know somethimes you don´t agree with Hector :-)
As i already sayd, it´s oke with me if he doesn´t include the option !
Also i have a lot of respect for the amount of work Hector takes on his shoulders.
But : Hector want´s to go commercial (no problem to me) and i think a commercial
program should be good. I still think there will be more users like me in the future
with lots of storage (and maybe even doubles :-) )

Try using a usb extension cable then. You can use a hub by the TV and an extension to connect that to your PC ;)

If I were you, I would:

1) list my owned movies
2) use the left arrow to navigate from one movie to the next
3) stop when a movie has more than 1 owned video
4) remove the double from my disk
5) remove the double from Coollector

1)
2) Wen i scroll trough the movie list, the next double i´ll find, usually
is not on the same disk i´ve got connected to the PC
3) It takes quite long before the window pops-up with the location info !
4) Also have to schwitch disks
5) Thats the easy part
Disk swapping, this is the reason i rather scroll trough the movies on one
specific disk and one by one look them up in Coollector, to see if there
are doubles

(cool) Hector wrote:
As I said, I don't plan to add a feature to list the doubles. But there are a couple of feature that I plan to add and that could help:

1) a button to reach (with a single click) the location where a video file is stored
2) automatic filling of your video files technical details (running time, image resolution, sound)

Don´t directly see how this could helm me on this specific problem ?

I use an 5 meter usb 2.0 extension cable,...
Unfortunately the devices USB-connected to the MM-Hd do NOT show up
on my computer. The MM-Hd when connected goes in USB-Mode and
only the build in HD is shown (at this moment only one).

I use the Hyunday R3150S, this MM-Hd has a good score on preview platforms

Post subject:  Re: Finding doubles

How about connecting all the drives directly to the PC instead of through the MM-hdd? That should cut the chance of an error occurring

That's insane to process that way. Instead, you should quickly browse your list of owned movies, and when you find one which has doubles, you mark it as "ordered". This way, it should be only a matter of minutes to get the list of all your movies with doubles. You could print that list of ordered movies, and do what you have to do with your disks.

2 => from the technical details, you could determine which version you want to keep, and which one you want to remove.

1 => if you cram all your disks on your desk, at least for the time of this operation, then with a click you can reach the file you want to delete.

When i have an 2cd - 2dvd movie, usually called *******_cd1.avi and ******_cd2.avi
Is there an option to exclude them for beiing counted by coollector, so i would see
avi x 1 because now i see avi x 2, but it´s only one movie and no double,....

Or do i have to give those "cd2" different names ?

2 => As told, no space on my desk !

I made a short list by scrolling to the database marking doubles as "wished"
then i print the list and get :

With version 3, you'll see at first glance if it's _cd1 and _cd2.

Are you kidding me ?

You know you're looking for 25 doubles.

Plug each drive one time, look what movie it has, write down if it's good or bad quality.

Once finished, you just have to plug again the drives where there are files to remove.

I understand better. But marking them as "wished" is still the best option.

You have only one day or two to wait.

Since you plug only one disk at a disk, they must all have the same drive letter. How can the path help you ?
