Hi there,. :hi:

Hector, Kakashi and all other community members.
After an 5 monts timeout, i´m glad to see Coollector still under developement
and getting better and better.

I´m glad the skinning system is functional and hope some the options that i
asked for in the past are still to come,....?

It starts looking good, but it'll take a couple more weeks to polish it completely.

Please remind me what it is you asked.

Hector,
Here was the topic :
http://www.coollector.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=809&p=6565#p6565

In the meantime some of the options requested are already realized,
some others still stay important (to me) :
option 1 - 2 - 4 - 5 and option 7 (list all doubles) still would be nice

2 and 5 should be the first to be implemented, but I can't give you any date.

I know for sure that this summer I'll be busy working on other things.

How would it work ? A filter to list all the movies you own multiple times ? Or do you have another idea ?

Hi Hector,

It´s possible to have one of Harry Potter´s movies 2 or 3 times !
I first loaded an Screener, later i loaded an Divx and finally i
loaded the .mkv version of this specific movie. They are stored
on diverend HDD´s

Once stored in the database it should be possible to find all those
movies by selecting the option "find doubles". All doubles spread over
several HDD´s should become visible, rather than youre advised
"scroll to the list" to find them

Well, i´m no programmer

If you don´t know how to program such option,... How should i now.
The only thing i can think of is that the movies will have different extensions
and/or locations. So the program could compare those and outputs a list
with movienames that appaer more than once !

I asked how you imagined the feature, I didn't ask how to program it. :P

"List all doubles", it's vague. Could be a menu option, could be a new filter, could be a message during the scanning, etc...

I proposed a filter to list all the movies you own multiple times, which is the best solution I can think of. But you didn't say if you liked that proposition, or if you had something else in mind.

The message during the scan : no

I think a menu option, it should scan the complete "owned" database and not
only new scans. Afterwards output the result in f.e. an printable textfile.

Thanks for the answer.

But don't you think it's overkill to add a menu option for a feature that'll be used by a fraction of the users, and probably used only once ?

When we could do it more simply by adding an option to the "status" filter...

"owned"
"owned multiple times"

In the future, I'll probably add the ability to reach the location of a file from Coollector. That would be more convenient than using a textfile list and reaching each location manually.

... if you don't mind the extra work checking file size and/or hash might be cool. Maybe you could even give a warning after file scanning.

eg. if movie is already owned, file is same size, and hash is same ... then we see it written on the list.
That would prevent users like me and Skinamp from having multiple copies of same file in the first place.

Generally, that won't be the case. For example, Skinamp said "I first loaded an Screener, later i loaded an Divx and finally i loaded the .mkv version of this specific movie."

The simple solution that I plan to implement is a filter that will list the movies owned more than once. The algorithm would be just smart enough to not count split movies ("Movie CD1", "Movie CD2").

You'll admit that it's a feature that's used only once, when you start with Coollector. After that, there's far less chances that you download a same movie twice.

So yes, the feature will be a little dumb, and you'll have to do some manual checking. But that should be convenient and fast enough to be really helpful 8)

Couldn't the solution offered for owning both dvd and blu-ray be similarly applied to movie files?

Does being a hybrid database/media center complicate such a solution?
