What does this button do?

When I press the 'play' button shown here nothing seems to happen. What does it do?

It's not a button, it's a visual cue that shows that you own some playable videos of that movie.
The same way the grids display a cue when you have rated the movie, or loaned it.
And if you own the movie, the cue is that the title is underlined.
