The pictures are stored under "C:\Users\All Users\Documents\Coollector\Images", the folder you mentioned is empty

Sorry, my mistake.

Why not store ALL data related to the program in
one single sub-folder of the installation folder ?
For many reasons...
The usual location to install the program is "Program Files", but it's a folder that requires admin rights. If you don't have admin rights, you won't be able to modify your coollection file. That's why your coollection file is inside "My Documents", allowing each user to have his own coollection. The same way, you'd need admin right to save the pictures on your hard drive. But instead of saving them inside "My Documents", we save them inside the "Shared Documents" folder, which is a folder that all the users can have access to. This way, when a user downloads some pictures, they are available to all the users, and they are not duplicated on your hard disk.
Etc...

This would make it easy to schedule automatic backups !
The only really important backup is "MyCoollection.cool".
Well, if you plan to format your disk, then you can also make a backup of the pictures.
