Coollector Movie Database is free software for Mac and Windows. There are no locked features,
only a 30-second delay at startup which you can remove by becoming a contributor.

Coollector Movie Database is free, but contributions and donations are welcome. This software exists since more than 15 years and has been continuously improved. If you like the app and want to support our work, you can become a contributor.

Coollector Movie Database is a Local-First Software (most features can work offline). It's the only app to include an extensive database of movies and series... You download the app, you have the whole database on your computer!

Of course it's cool that the app can work offline, but that's not the only benefit... This architecture is also much more reliable (online servers could become slow during peak hours or even go down altogether) and it keeps the prices low (it would be quite expensive to operate fast 24/7 servers).

Only the pictures require an internet connection. As you browse the database, they get downloaded and saved to disk. Once on disk, a picture doesn't need downloading again and works even offline. Overall, the database and the pictures will take about 1 GB of disk space, up to 5 GB if used heavily.

Contrary to most collection managers where you have to tediously fetch the data online, one movie at a time, here you already have all the movies, you just have to mark which ones you've watched, you own, you wish, you're not interested in, etc...

You can mark a movie as simply "watched" or you can rate it to remember how much you've liked it. Our rating system uses 7 emojis (awful, very bad, bad, neutral, good, very good, excellent) and our guidelines make it a no-brainer to use. Click to read the rating guidelines.

If you rate enough movies, the app will progressively understand your tastes and be able to predict how much you'll like a movie that you haven't seen yet. A predicted rating will be displayed as a rating seen through a crystal ball ;-)

In addition to your predicted ratings, the app displays the IMDb rating and popularity of each movie. Movie lovers should get enough hints to decide what to watch from their own collection, on TV, in theaters, or on streaming services (currently Netflix and Hulu).

You can browse the catalog of streaming services to evaluate if it's worth subscribing to them. If you're already subscribed, Coollector is an alternative to their app that we hope you'll like better. It knows more about you, its recommendations are unbiased, and it can merge into a unified interface the content of multiple streaming services.

The movie page provides the full cast and crew (with the pictures of persons and even characters).
The person page provides the full filmography. Does the movie have actors whom you like? Have you seen other movies from this director? At first glance you'll have all the answers!

You can maintain a wishlist of the movies that you'd like to watch. You can remember which part of a series you've already seen, by rating whole seasons or individual episodes. You can tag the movies and the persons with any words you want. You can write personal reviews and notes.

The app provides direct links to various IMDb pages (user reviews, awards, trivia, and more), to Youtube trailers, and to the message boards moviechat.org and filmboards.com where you can engage in passionate conversations with other movie enthusiasts.

Video collectors will keep track of their DVD & BLU-RAY collection: where they're stored, and which ones they've loaned to whom. Our database knows close to 2 million videos which you can identify by barcode. If missing, you can still add a video from scratch.

You can also organize your collection of movie files, by scanning your disks and identifying the files automatically (blazingly fast thanks to the local database). Once added, the files can be launched from the app and they'll be played with your favorite media player.

The interface is highly customizable, with skins and adjustable layouts. There are tons of filters to make any search you can think of. You can backup your personal data online, or publish it on our website to access from anywhere or show to your friends.
